I cannot get into the Tranquility Lounger

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 5:31 pm

Hi,

Can I just say that I bought this game a few days ago (GOTY edition) and it's possibly turning out to be one of the best games I've ever played - kind of like an open-ended Half Life with quests. Stunning graphics, believable and interesting back stories, choice of shoot 'em up style or thoughful gameplay... why have I not played it already?!

Anyways, I'm about level 6 and have just got to Vault 112 by following in my father's footsteps, and I am trying to get into the Tranquility Lounger. Note that I *am* going for the empty one, not the broken one or any of the occupied ones. But every time I click to activate, I get a message saying:

"You are no longer authorized to use the Tranquility Loungers"

and whatever I try I cannot get it to open, or get it to be useable. So far I've tried reloading the game from outside Vault 112, I've double-checked I'm wearing only my 112 Jumpsuit, I've gone and had a lie down for 72 hours and more, and I've wandered off and done a bit more of some other quests before coming back.

My Karma is great (I look like a saint) and my health is good. I can only think that I have taken a wrong turn at some point in the game and now can't undo that fact. I did kill one or two of the bearded scavenger-traders - with the guard beasts - before I realised they were friendly - could that be causing it? If so I don't know what to do to get back in the Vault 112 good books.

Note, I've searched and searched the internet and forums, but can't find mention of this "bug".

I would like to have it resolved, as I understand this is a major questline of the game and I might miss out on a whole load of content without it.

Obviously I'd like to do it properyl, but as a last resort, might there be a way of "completing" the Tranquility Lane quest stage, using the console or something?

Many thanks in advance

Cheers

Never heard of this. More info needed. Platform? What, specifically, were the other quests you did, while you hung out? Didja try reloading a save prior to entering 112?

I'm playing the Windows version of the game under the latest version of Wine on Ubuntu 10.10. So far everything in the game has worked flawlessly. While I was hanging out I just did some of Moira's Research, and generally wandered about a bit looking around, opening up the maps etc. I downloaded and installed the game patch (1.7? 1.5? can't remember)

It has the feel of a gameplay thing - i.e. something I did (or supposedly did, if this is a bug) is preventing me from entering the Lounger. I'd understand it if I'd gone into Vault 112 and shot everything in sight, but I'm not that kind of guy... not this time around anyway.

The only thing I can think is that I haven't installed the 5 other add on packs - maybe I should try that first...

The only thing I would recommend would be to restart the game, and head straight to the garage. You can enter it without having to do any of the other quests. Although it seems annoying to do so, at least you are only level 6, plus you'll have the achievements if you're trying to get achievements anyway. =]

Eeeek! I don't fancy restarting, seems a bit drastic. I'm not the fastest of players and it's taken me three or four days to get to this point.

I'll potter about for a bit, do a few other things and see if it gets any better. Will try and post a screenshot too.

cheers for the help

It seems the game thinks you've already finished the quest. Although I've found something that may help, type 'GetQuestCompleted' in the console (without the 's)

Is that the correct command? Looks like it's missing something - this is the output

SCRIPTS: Script 'SysWindowCompileAndRun', line 1:Missing parameter Quest.Compiled script not saved!

cheers

edit: err, ignore the fancy colours, it's all in white text on my console!

thanks - that has put me into Tranquility Lane, and I can carry on.

One small problem - when I leave I'm still in my children's clothes with a Vault Boy wristwatch instead of my Pip Boy.. but I've seen other posts about how to recover from that so should be fine.

Many thanks for your help.
