Fallout 1, 2, 3 or New Vegas?

If you are banned to an unpopulated island with your game console or pc which copy of fallout would you bring with you if you have to make 1 choice?

NV feels like it was released in a rush, but it still is rather enjoyable.

Sure as hell not New Vegas, since I wouldn't have internet, I couldn't even install.
Fallout 1 requires DOS, so that one is out.
And Fallout 2 isn't modable as easily as Fallout 3 is.

So Fallout 3

If I had to make 1 choice it would have been Oblivion :P but since that wasn't an option FO3.

Shouldn't this be in "Fallout Series"?
Oh, and Fallout 1, because no matter what anyone ever creates again, that, is the original fallout, that, is the real fallout.

Fallout 2 absolutely. Fallout 3 and NV are good games but I still don't think they are as good as Fallout 2. And I guess I might be a bit old school but I prefer isometric RPGs to the FPS view ones and turn-based to real-time. First Fallout is good too but Fallout 2 is more polished.

Actually, Fallout 1 is the one who is polished.
Fallout 2 is just more.
It has more stuff all around and great writing as well but it was way way way way too rushed and might even be buggier than Fallout New Vegas was for some people.

Under those circumstances, it's would have to be Fallout 2 (even though IMO FO1 is better). FO:NV is amazing and I'm liking it a lot, but without the GECK, it loses a large chunk of it's appeal, and without internet access..., it would have no appeal at all.

Fallout 2 but before sending me to this deserted Island let me download FO2RP first and check if there is a power supply or send some solar panels to recharge my laptop.

Fallout 2 for me. For reasons unknown I grew more attached to it than Fallout.

I never played FO1 and/or 2. They have a different gameplay than 3 and Vegas. Maybe I will play them one day (retro yeah!) to experience the game.

Fallout 1. I've yet to discover most endings/slideshows. I've been playing from time to time since its release and I doubt I'll ever tire. Even if I do the same quests each time.
Plus, I really love the combat system. :D

I have to disagree fallout 1 was buggy as hell the whole HUD Disappearing and having to literaly "colour" it back in with your cursor was so frickin annoying.
Whereas fallout 2 i played several times and never expierienced a serious bug, but it all depended on luck i guess just like with fallout 3 and fallout:NV Kinda having to save every 2 mins never knowing when the inevitable freeze up would occure, ah was a pain.

Seems like someone pulled off a good joke on ya. :whistling:

Still, probably Fallout 2. Best of the bunch! Heck I still haven't fully explored that game and I am playing it since 2000...
Yeeeesh and with a Restoration + Unofficial patch already included plox!

Fallout 3 and NV sounds nice and all, but unless the "deserted island" has some kind of an internet connection I think these big mods are a no-go.
And self-learning the GECK(without tutorials) for the rest of my life doesn't sound tempting at all..

Nah, it doesn't depend on luck the only reason why more people have problems with bugs, crashes and whatnot on a pc is the vast variety of hardware + combinations + configurations out there. Fallout 1 always worked fine for me, had more problems with Fallout 2 until I bought a new computer (not for FO2 in particular, just needed a new pc eventually) and it worked great then. Same as FONV: I had a bit of trouble with DirectX 11's backwards compatibility in relation to DirectX 9.0c plus FONV isn't too fond of NVIDIA cards/drivers either. Don't worry I found a solution, eventually. ;)

However I'd never purchase a future Fallout series for my console ever again. Too many regrets!

Consoles aren't consoles anymore imo, by that I mean: go to store -> buy game -> go home -> put game in console -> turn it on -> play -> period!

Too much connecting to the internet for patching, added content, tweaking and stuff like that. Well, I can perform exactly the same tasks on a pc only better! :P

From what I've played...

New Vegas>Fallout 1>Fallout 3

I found New Vegas much more enjoyable than both Fallout 1 and 3.
