Oblivion PC Moments

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 5:29 pm

Some of you already know, I'm building a PC for games like Oblivion. Just wanted to make a thread for people to share their PC gaming moments on Oblivion with everyone else. (I expect some comic ones as most PC players have mods). :) :foodndrink:

Cheers,

Buffy fell in love with those speedy black horses as soon as she saw a courier riding one. She saved up and finally bought one at Cheydinhal. She quickly learned what a pain the neck they can be, even while falling in love with her precious black mare. She asked me for help, and I agreed.

Thanks to the PC, Superian is now properly named, is literally the fastest horse in Cyrodiil, can go into towns (or even large buildings/dungeons), has a white mane, tail and feet, is equipped with much better tack, to include saddlebags. We also taught Buffy the 'Call of Corsair' so she can instantly call Superian to her side, even from great distances. Finally, we got Buffy a portable campsite, and some good detect life gear so she can see threats approaching from long range.

The result of all this is that they can travel safely and spent great amounts of time self-sufficiently enjoying the beauty of Cyrodiil as they explore together, before finally savoring some time in town.

This game is made by the mods, and the finest moments come when you have a character that clicks (like my Bosmer Ranger, who is now on his third restart and still has yet to get old for me) and a load order that sets the experience to be exactly what you want it to be. Remember, the only must have mod is the unofficial patch, the rest is for you to discover. Think of modding as its own separate game, there's no such thing as a problem, only a challenge (but do read up on some guides first to get you set off on the right foot, sloppy modding can lead to reinstalls).

For me, every moment is great, because the game I've built for myself is designed entirely around atmosphere. I love to lose myself into a diverse and beautiful world.

Ever since the first of my characters set foot in the Shivering Isles, I was entranced by the Mazken. So I created a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31265 that would allow me to play as one, with all of their armor and weapons. I even made leveled versions of all the gear, so I could use it throughout the game without it ever being too weak, or too powerful. The end result was http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion320.jpg, a Dark Seducer banished to Nirn by Sheogorath because she did not like cheese. Or was it to save the world? Aerin is not sure anymore. In any case, she found herself in a cell in the Imperial Prison when Emperor Uriel Septim came along, and well, you know how things worked out for him. Aerin felt obliged to fulfill the dying man's last request, and in so doing found herself drawn into protecting Nirn from Mehrunes Dagon. The more time she spent around mortals, she more found herself not only sympathizing with them, but also respecting them, and genuinely caring for them. A key player in this was Ohtesse, from the chapel of Arkay in Cheydinhal. Aerin thought that Ohtesse was was teaching her Restoration. But the Altmer was really teaching her to feel love, for mortals, for the world, and for herself. In the end Aerin became a devout follower of the Nine, as well as the Champion of Nirn.
