I've always wondered if TVs worked in the wasteland. In the Fallout 3 trailer there's a TV showing the Vault-tec commercial as well as a commercial for Super-Duper Mart, but I don't know if that means TVs can actually work in the Wasteland. I imagine all they would pick up is static because the TV stations were all bombed out, but what if somehow there were still some radio signals getting through to the TVs? I imagine there'd be a lot of black and white shows from the 1950's like I Love Lucy, Andy Griffin, and Three Stooges. Kind of like how Galaxy Radio is filled with songs from before the 50's.

I think that would have been a cool feature to have, like have a working TV in your Megaton/Tenpenny house and watch old TV shows any time you want. Though that'd probably be impossible to add in a video game.

I agree, something along the lines of InFamous or BioShock I think would work nicely.

And it wouldn't be impossible to add, unless oyu mean watching like, REAL TV. Then it wouldn't be.
But if you mean random stuff they could have on the TVs out in the wasteland//towns now and then, it could be done. Like the Vault-Tec advertisemants, as you said.

By default they don't actually work, but someone has created a mod that has them actually functioning. By the screenshots I've seen, he has something like a DVD player for holodisks.

Also since every TV in the game has a cracked screen, I wonder if they can still work even with the screen cracked? I've never watched TV on a broken screen before so I wouldn't know.

That depends on how deep the crack goes. The TVs in Fallout 3 seem to be the old Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) type, so as long as the crack isn't too deep, they would work. I used to have an old CRT set with a cracked screen. The crack and everything for about 1mm around it showed up solid black when the set was on, but you could still watch stuff on it.

I guess without mods (since I'm on a 360) I can just pretend my character watches TV in his room at Tenpenny Tower. I like that the pre-war theme comes with a TV. Maybe I can pretend Tenpenny Tower has it's own TV network where the residents get together to do shows for the people in the tower. They'd probably have bad acting compared to the real pre-war shows, but could still be entertaining. There could also be commercials for the shops in Tenpenny Tower. Maybe we can convince Dashwood to redo a live-action show of his adventures? Though they'd probably hire a smoothskin to play Argyle in a costume since the residents hate ghouls.

I wouldn't be surprised if the West Coast had some working TVs, but the Capital Wasteland seems far too broken to even attempt bringing that back at the moment.

I think TV's themselves could be repaired to work, but I don't know about signal. Radio plays old songs, but has messages in between that effect mankind and are current.

There aren't any actors in the Wasteland, so no one could actually make a movie, or show about the wasteland. Plus, I don't think I've ever seen a video camera anywhere.. It would be nice, for news and events and stuff. The first ever news channel of the Wastes.

It can be done, it was in GTA IV, the TVs worked, and showed TV shows. In Red Dead Redemption, the cinema showed short films.

Well if Bethesda could get them to work i think they should show old reruns of black and white shows from the 1950's. Shows like I Love Lucy or Little Rascals. Too bad that idea wasn't used in New Vegas.

Not a chance, there'd be all sorts of copyright issues and alot of money to pay out. The only way they could have done it was to create their own, and it wouldn't have been worth their time and effort.

Not to change the subject but i ran into a truck with 3 jukeboxes in it and they all worked. It was pretty cool in the middle of the dc ruins. Can't say i've found any working tvs though.

I like to roleplay that my TV in my Tenpenny Tower suite works. The one that comes with the Pre-War theme I mean. I'll grab myself a meal from my safe (where I store my food), or I'll pick something up from Cafe Beau Monde and sit in a comfy chair in front of the TV and watch my favorite pre-war show while I'm eating. B)
