Innovations and Classic Functions

First off, let me just say that I just translated the back of Game Informer and noted the Draconic rhyme's presence in the teaser trailer. I am now officially psyched to death. Curse you, Besthesda. You are evil peoples for snaring us with such ruthless, unremitting awesome.

Now, on to the meat and 'tatoes.

I've said it before, but I feel it's worth repeating (if only so you folks at gamesas take it into mind as you work). There are certain features from Morrowind and Oblivion that deserve to return and make their glorious comeback. I mean of course, customization and detail matters.
In Morrowind, we had a wide variety of weapons, armor, clothing, and accessory items to don, wield, and play around with. Many of these vanished in Oblivion, which left many of us scratching our heads in confusion.
For my part, the concern isn't weaponry - gimme a Bow, Blade, Staff or my fists and watch me work - but rather, my concern is apparel!

In Morrowind, we were privy to some unevenness. Gauntlets, bracers and gloves were individual items, rarely showing up in pair. Same with pauldrons and spaulders, always found lonely and separate from gaudy cuirasses (a good thing by any stretch). Pants and skirts didn't "convert" based on what gender wore them; they were androgynous - unisix. Imperial Legionnaires trooped in kilts, while the ladies in Suran rocked evil-jeans. You know.
By the same coin, we had some wonderful redundancies. Skirts/kilts and pants could be worn simultaneously or alone, and even with armor. Gloves could be found that were cosmetic rather than armor, and some of them could be worn with bracers (if not full gauntlets) These redundancies could do for a return. Think we even had belts, too.
It wasn't present in either recent ES game, but might I suggest also making a few footwear sets separable in Skyrim? Seems reasonabe enough to achieve that scruffy look. Left boot, right moccasin, mix'n'match...you know.
It's the little things like all that that made it fun designing a character's outfit. It said "this is me", without shoving a five-piece set of Glass on us.

In Oblivion, well, the only major comment I can make is in regards to the beast races - Khajiit and Argonians. Now, some people disagreed with how they were changed from ES3 to 4. I mean of course the capacity to wear most helmets, and the shift from digitigrade to plantigrade leg and foot design.
Keep the change. We like it. We hated being shorted on quality boots and headgear in Morrowind because of our species.
I read in a caption on pg51 of GI that "body features are entirely customizable", aside from the obligatory facial customization. I'm assuming that means that beastfolk can choose their leg type; a good thing. We deserve that choice. Might be nice to include some fur and scale patterns/colors and alternate eye colors to really enrich the immersion. Golden-eyed iguana? Blue-eyed cougar? Yes, please!

And this'll sound dumb, but you know those "stitched leather shoes" in Oblivion? Those were great. Moccasins are very stealthy. ~.^ Give us variants!

Well, that's my six cents. If the moderators read this, take my words into consideration! If other users read it, well, comment and agree or disagree. Just no flames.

Sounds good to me.

But knowing most game developers today, it won't happen.

Not to offend the OP, but we have maybe 5 of these thread each day, and they usually always turn into a fight between Morrowind and Oblivion

Actually, if they're that frequent, that's a good thing. It means more than just a few people are thinking on the same lines, and with Bethesda, such wide support usually translates to the message being heeded.

I agree with the OP. Skyrim will be cold we need some extra clothing slots to keep our PC warm.

Nothing and I mean nothing has been said in this forum about MW and OB that hasn't already been said a thousand times in Oblivion general discussion over the past 5 yrs.

This thread will be reborn a hundred more times before release. It doesn't matter, we are all just here spit balling to kill time because Skyrim is all we think about.

Relax and let it go.
