Total Conversions, Listing [Reprise]

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:45 pm

Thank you papill6n, Pseron Wyrd and a few others for the helpful posts.

For the rest of the debating society, I am really beginning to regret that I copy/resurrected this thread. I did so because 'where are the Total Conversions?' is a question that comes up and the original author had made a good list, albeit outdated, given it was posted in 2006. I am very well aware that the information therein needed updating and said so. It was my hope, perhaps foolish, that those with more current knowledge might make constructive posts, providing further information on those projects that have moved along - completion or translation and the like. Several folk have; others seem to want to have a debate about personalities and tone and the value of other modders' work etc. These are all things about which I, and I suspect others, are entirely disinterested.

So, either sum it up folks and provide constructive information to assist others in finding TCs - descriptions, updates, download links, translations, installation tips, corrections of fact etc - or please don't bother to post in this thread.
If the present unseemly flutter continues, I will ask the Moderators to close and preferably delete the whole thread.

Thank you.

Regards ~ Ronin49

Ashes of Apocalypse
Stage:
Description:
Ashes of Apocalypse is a total conversion for the The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. AoA is set in a post nuclear world of freedom. It offers the player the choice of what to do, when, and where. There are no limits except the one to survive.

AoA has been created nearly from the ground up with completely all new models, textures, sounds, and music. It will feature ingame systems including Geiger counter, firearms with ammo clips, upgradeable rifles, and many more.

My take on this TC.

Ashes of the Apocalypse

Stage : Version 1.0 is the basepack and was released as a demo n December 2005, there is also version 1.1 released in February 2006 which is an update that requires version 1.0 to work. The TC is still in the early stages of development though absence of news and updates in recent years suggests that the project has probably been abandoned.

Description: Ashes of the Apocalypse takes place on a post apocalyptic desert wasteland, liberally strewn with modern debris , industrial wreckage and bunker type buildings. There are several settlements , military installations and fortifications scattered around the island though as yet, the majority require the addition of npc's ,building interiors and so far there is no dialogue or quests. The main places of interest are currently the settlements of Outpost 21 and Taran a short distance to the East , both of which have several npc's and building interiors which help give a glimpse into the potential of the theme. AOA features many original textures and models of modern debris , wreckage, clutter, junk, and bunker style architecture.

Yes AOA is dead.

I've actually been working on AOA on and off for about 2 months now so maybe one day I will release it for others to use :)

I can confirm that AoA has been abandoned (I was on the development team). Due to real life and a few other issues, the project was postponed indefinitely, with hopes for a Unreal or Oblivion-based second. The team disintegrated before that was put together.

On a side note, my long-time WIP TC (Rule 12) inherited permission to use all the resources from AoA. I've been working on it in bits and pieces for a year or two now and there is a public alpha released on ModDB, so if you want to add that to the list, you could.

Unknown? Actually, I'd say it's one of the more well known landmass mods, especially considering it's not hosted on PES/Nexus.
It's been around for many years, and has always remained popular. :)

Thanks folks, for the helpful posts.

Hi Ronin49 - do you want to add the http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-stargate to your list?

Thanks, Illuminiel, that may well be a good add.

Truth be told, I have got myself still on permanent [?] sabbatical. Mostly, I lurk in, see who is looking for what and, if I have it, poke it up on MediaFire/File and lurk back out with a new download or two in my pocket. Just in case.
I'm afraid I went and got addicted to 'Real Life' and it is interfering terribly with my Morrowind and forum experience. I know there must be a support group that could help me with this but until then ... ;)

But then Myar Aranath was re-uploaded ... and I was checking my archived threads for something about it .... and found Cleitanious' thread on TCs ... and thought that, though quite dated, it might be useful ... and .... and ... and here we are.
So. I wassna planning on updating the list. :shakehead:
Sorry if I gave that impression.

I suggest that either:

1. Folk just continue contributing posts here with useful corrections or additional information as they are now doing, or

2. Someone who can do joined-up writing download the original list from the link in the first post - pick the links off it, edit it using the information here and what might follow - and put it up as a whole new updated and 'editable' list. If someone wants to do that, a worthwhile project I think, I would be most happy to get this one closed.

Just a suggestion for a cleaner result. (aka - Gluby, where are you when we need you?) :)

Meanwhile, just collecting the current information to update the old stuff in the first post is, I suggest, a worthwhile endeavour and clearly already helpful to some.

Excuse the long post ...

I gave it a try but unfortunately it doesn't run in its current state, attempting to run Rule 12 gives this error

Font 0 not found in \ Morrowind.ini,

updating with the 2b patch doesn't help and the 2c patch won't install and gives the following error

c:\Rule 12\Data files\meshes\env\cc.ext\ring0.nif:unknown version
