???

I haven't used the latest version of DOSbox yet, but are you unpacking DaggerFall in a directory with spaces in its name? Remember DOSbox is a DOS emulator and works just like a DOS environment, and IIRC, DOS doesn't like spaces in directory names. Don't install/unpack DOSbox into the default Program Files or "User" folders. These directories have spaces in them. All games I load with the Box I put in a folder called "games" right smack in the middle of my C drive. That way there's no confusion or resistance. Then inside that folder, each game gets its own folder with a name no longer than 8 characters. Try that if you haven't already.

That may have been my problem, I did put the spaces in! Thanks so much, I'll try what you said!

Ok, that didn't work, it says no such directory. Do I have to create a directory to put it in, and if so, how ??

According to the DOSBox instructions you can hit Alt F12 for turbo speed, and control F12 to make the DOSBox cycle quicker, which should stop the lagging.

You can also edit the dosbox.conf, under CPU change cycles=auto to cycles=max.

Though, with my latest tweaking of the conf....this may be the cause of my frequent crashing now. I'm still testing this, so "as-is", no warranty, express or implied.

Hold the right mouse button and do one of the following for different swings.

Forward: Stab
Left/right: Slashes left/right
back: slashes downward
Diagonal: Diagonal slashes

I also suggest you configure the button mapping and change the view to the second option (the one on the right) to make the game more like a FPS configuration (easier to play the game that way).

Press Esc to access the control. Change them to your liking.

My roomate just got it running on his Vista box. There's no issues with getting it running in the first place, but when he's playing in fullscreen mode, the colors occasionally get really screwed up. Has anyone else had this problem?

EDIT: This only happens when changing static elements, like the map when you're picking the province you're from, or the starfield during the questioning, or the borders around the intro video. Otherwise, it works fine.

I would not recommend this. I would suggest to start running the game AFTER changing cpudown in the config to 500, then starting the game. Then you hit F12 until the game is smooth, and for the love of god remember to set core to dynamic in the config.

I have no trouble installing Daggerfall with Vista. But, when I go to do the sound configuration part my keyboard doesn't work. Any idea what it could be?

Thanks

Edit/ I found the issue. The issue was with the latest version of DOSbox. For some reason it wouldn't detect my keyboard. But, when I tried using the last version it worked.

Thanks, and thanks to Mr. Oblivion! I will get back on ASAP and try these out !!
