NPC Inventory/Personlity changing?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:25 pm

I was wondering if if Skyrim could have a way for NPC's to buy items, and maybe you can see them buying it, and their personality type changes? Like say if a scared orc defends some other people from a threat, his personality could change to make him more into combat, thus making him buying different items, weapons, potions, spells, and armor, and even start exploring the wilderness. I think some way of NPC's actually buying stuff from stores would be pretty cool, like if this orc wants to be a steel longsword, a you can hear dialogue

"I'll take that steel longsword, what's the price?"
"It is x gold!"
""
This could really make the game have more immersion and give it a feeling of a different play every time.

Another thing: What if NPC's had a food meter (and maybe we could have it to, but optional) so they would have to eat 1-5 units of food every day, based on what they are used to eating.

P.S. : Please post constructive criticism, because I am a useless shovel.

The eating thing would go great with the new body types.

Fat, muscly warrior orc= 5 units.

mage= 1 too 2 units.

Thanks! I was also thinking the food you need could be also based on how much food you regularly eat, which depends on what you said, new body types, plus your class (like high class, middle class, low class),your family (if you are apart of a royal family or merchant or whatever), amount of cash, and what you do to get food/for a job/living. (like if you explore you might have an npc perk of requiring 1 less food unit.

Anything is possible with the new Radiant AI. We just won't know the extent until they show us. The expect the new Radiant AI system to give us the most advanced AI seen in games to date.

Yeah, I just really wanted more Immersion than having 1 guy stay the same personality for the entire lasting time of the game, with all the stuff that's going on, a civil war, dragons attacking, etc.

Sounds great, and I think for the food thing that there should be a bar in the stamina/fatigue bar that would either make it increase very slowly if you haven't ate for a long time, or would have a cap that is steadily declining as you don't eat food or sleep. And as for making it optional, I don't think so, I mean what is the point? If people are really annoyed they could mod it out, but I understand why people wouldn't want the game to turn into the Sims or something, but they could have the effects somewhat subtle so they only had to eat or sleep every 2-3 days or something. Also, I think it would be cool for inventory to be shown on your character, at least for things like your money pouch, and I think it would be cool to have a flask for water (or other liquids) that you could fill at a stream or something.

WOW, you just gave me the BEST idea ever!
Let's say you get water in a flask from a river, then use alchemy to combine the flask with a potion with damage health attribute, so if an NPC is about to starve or die from thirst, you say "here have some water." then they will die! This can provide for some sneaky Dark Brotherhood quests, which involve you first stealing the NPC's food, then giving the poisoned flask. Or, Maybe you need to slip a "Silence" potion into someone's flask before they fight your group (like if the fighter's guild is fighting a mage's guild. This can be EXPANDED to the point where you can poision the enemy team in a Arena! Giving you an easy win/easy gold from a bet.

Sorry for the bump, but I thought of a Perk that could go well with my idea:
Lean but not Mean: You may (optional) eat 1 less food unit that your minimum is, but when you do, you deal 10% less damage.

It disappointed me that I could never get the reverse-pickpocket poisoned apple trick work in Oblivion. I would like indeed to see more nasty tricks like that. Anything that adds to stealthy options is good ; there should be always many ways to deal with one problem.

Yeah, maybe for strong based characters you can force it, for magic based characters you can put a spell on them making them want to, and for thief/sneaky based characters they will think it is theirs/you are being kind.
