Will Skyrim add new raw materials types for weapons and armo

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:23 am

So past elder scrolls had alot of different material types in armor's and weapons. raw ebony, raw glass, steel, iron, daedric, adamantium, silver, stahlrim, nordic silver and so on. You think Skyrim will add some new unique types of materials? maybe unique to the province?

I sure hope so. Wasn't mining going to be included in the game?

Btw, you forgot to mention gold and copper :)

Otherwise I wouldn't see the point of going deep into the mines with the hope of finding something extraordinary that will make an awesome sword or cuirass.

I'm sure we'll see Stalhrim again. :)
And maybe even Dragonbone?

Dragonbone seems like it would fit... the bones would be nice and fresh too. :P

I hope so like all others have stated.

Did like the Adamantium Ore and Stalhrim material both used to making armor and weapons.

Hopefully Daedric will be crafted in the traditional way (correct me if I make some mistakes) basicly you take some ebony and fused it with the soul of a (angry) daedra and bing bang boom you have your dardic equipment. Hopefully that can fit in to the raw materials.

Maybe they can start to turn away from the tier system to something more free form and varied.

I'd quite like to see an expanse on the idea of different grades. We've seen it quite simply with things like 'rusty iron' and 'fine steel'.
I would also like to see a few more material types. Dragonbone is definitely topical.

Only the Daedra now how to make Daedric armor and weapons, so far no mortal is known to have this knowledge.

Besides you would think since the defeat of Dagon Daedric armor would be very rare to find

I hope they'll have all the old materials, and bring back Stalhrim as well. Although Stalhrim should still be rare and difficult to attain. I bet some dragon-related materials will be included...dragonbone, dragon skin, dragon scales etc. Oh and Trollbone, as we saw a couple Nordic Trollbone items in Morrowind. And since it's so mountainous, maybe more ore-related materials, like obsidian or something.

Hard to tell really. I'm all for lots of different materials, but I want them to have certain abilities rather than everything dealing with Armor Class alone. Too many materials each with their own Armor Class, makes the class rating too powerful. So I'd like to see materials (incl. weapons) have natural resistances against elements built within them. Fur armor, not very resistant to fire. Metal (conductive) not very resistant to shock etc. So a character doesn't end up with simply a defense value, or an Armor Class, but also natural resistances to the five elements (fire, frost, water, air, and earth, or whatever they may be). Finally there should be natural bonus to appearance. If you're a kid, what do you prefer santa to look like? Wearing nice dress, steel armor, or a full daedric suit? I swear I'd never sleep again if I saw someone in a daedric suit :P

That's an interesting question and my answer is yes :-)

But I would certainly like to see more variation... I mean more than one type of Iron, Steel etc available in shops.

To be honest if Skyrim simply has the depth of Morrowind with the gameplay tech of Oblivion I will be happy regardless, I'm hoping it will have more than the sum of that, and I think it will.

Jesus Suffering F**k I am excited!

I definitely see the potential for dragon based weapon and armor crafting. It would have to have requirements though such as first actually killing a dragon first to get the raw materials, and then finding a ancient tome with the knowledge of how to work said materials into whatever item desired.
