Question about Animations

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:55 pm

Alright so I have made a meditation animation which I want to make as an Idle animation. (think monk ... when he is idle he starts meditating).

To make it look smooth I have made some "transition" frames. So here is what my animation looks like roughly(not using the actual numbers here ... just get a rough idea):

- frames 1-5 (folding legs and sitting down)

- frames 5-20 (actual pose -crossed legs)

- frames 20-25 (standing up)

The problem is that if I loop this then he will keep sitting down -> meditating -> standing up -> sitting down again -> meditating -> and so on ....

I however want it to only loop the frames 5-20 (the actual meditation), playing the first few and last few frames only when interrupted\playing some other aniamtion.

Sooo ... is there a way to do this?

( I really do need the transitions)

The sitting down cross-legged has already been done, but it was using a mat as a piece of furniture, with the transitions as separate "sit down" and "get up" animations for the use of the mat. I don't know if there's any provision at all for transition animations to be defined for anything else but furniture.

Ive never heard of being able to loop only a part of an animation, so i dunno if it possible.

Im thinking you'll have to break it into 3 animations, and then script them to run right.
