Simple Exterior Town Tutorial

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:34 am

Hi, sorry if this is a little too simple for a thread but I want to create a bunch of small towns scattered through out the wastes. There is a problem, I'm not exactly sure how to do it.

Don't get me wrong, it seems simple enough to put some statics up and some NPCs, but...It's a little difficult for some reason. I can't find any tutorials on how to make a simple city or town, or how to give NPCs jobs.

So if could anyone give me tips, I would be most grateful.

It sounds like you need to start with the basic tutorials. Check the pinned link at the top of this forum.

You place statics in the exterior 'Wasteland' world space. You then make 'Interior' spaces and link the two using a 'door' object to teleport between them.
It is simple, but only if you understand how to use the GECK.

Creating AI packages is a bit more complex than that. Perhaps you should start small and just make one town first and learn as you go. Once its built, you can learn how to make AI packages to place on the NPC's.

Thanks, but I have gone through the first Vault tutorial several times. Bethesda really needs to find out how to fix that navmesh...I suppose I get aggravated and give up too easily. Guess I'll just have to take baby steps.

Yes but it's a total pain and takes way too long.
