Quite an unusual orc, I must say. Good luck with her! May you two live happily ever after! (At least until 11-11-11...)

Alchemy as Major? Two Armor majors? Athletics as major? No Melee Major?

Blasphemy! This goes against everything I've ever learned! This build is a mess!

Alchemy levels too quick as a Major.
Athletics levels itself anyway, and thus wastes another slot.
You could only use one armor at any given time, leveling either to a useful skill level would take forever.

Having said that, it would work, if you turn down the difficulty slider enough. Infact the CC says the Max Level is 51, which is pretty good..

Anyway, Good Luck. :)

Actually, he could level both armor skills at the same time, simply by wearing both types of armor :)

Yeah, but why?

You could also kill a fly with a rocket launcher. You could also take a cab to the next block. You could also read a book one word per day.

There are many things we could do but are simply impractical, and I don't see the use in..

From what I've gathered by his posts, Zak uses alchemy to make up for a lack in any part of his character.

And as for the lack of melee skill, he has conjuration and illusion which are VERY good for dishing out damage (if indirectly).

I actually quite like the look of this one, and can imagine her being hilarious to play (even if not the way I make my characters). Especially if she develops some really interesting quirks which I think is entirely possible.

I suspect the character will be using neither kind of armor. Mages don't like the reduction of spell effectiveness. It looks like a quite sensible set of majors for avoiding premature levels. There are some skills where starting at Apprentice level makes a big difference - but that all depends on what you expect to use,

For example, I make Armorer a major for anyone who uses magical equipment, or else I'm waiting too long for the ability to repair it. If you don't intend to use weapons or armor, you can ignore that skill completely. But then I might still make it a major and not use it, to keep my leveling slow. Alchemy levels fast, but the ability to know two effects from the start can be useful, too, and if it's your main source of levels, it can be controlled very easily. It's hard to guess which are the ones that are there to start higher, and which are there to prevent leveling without knowing the playing style that will be used. I'd suspect a mage might make significant use of Conjuration, and making it a major lets you summon a skeleton or scamp to distract your foes, if that's part of your tactics, from level 1.

I through out everything I know about the game when I made her. She isnt my creation. I just let the character develop. She likes both armors so she got both. She likes both melee weapons but is already naturally good with an ax. She thinks using pets is funnier and then there is always double teaming.

LOL Yes Alchemy is my cure all. You can do anything with it.

The Shadow?! I only just noticed that! The freakin' Shadow! What are you thinking Zak? Are you high? You're the guy who made that guide down there in your sig. You know all this stuff, yet you ignore all that and stick to this abomination!

Where is ZakariusSvedlin and what have you done with him?

Its an X Factor. The core idea of my guide is not to make the most effective character, but to make the most enjoyable one. I anolyized the game to the point of always talking myself into the same character over and over and never being satisfied. I never just let a character happen. This is fresh and fun and I look forward to unique challenges. However it did lead me to come up with a reason the shadow might be OK. It has a couple of functions:

1.access to invisibilty very early in the game.
2. Emergency panic button, if your low on life and magicka and healing potions, you can click this on and bail yourself out of trouble. (as though I ever lack healing potions lol)

Im in no way making a case for it as an elite sign, but its not totally useless.

Good on ya, Zak! I wish you luck.

As you know, I endorse the fact that with experience in Oblivion, it eventually becomes unnecessary to play by the rules of conventional wisdom. My character keeps her endurance at 30 and has speechcraft as a major skill for example; yet she is quite dangerous and survivable. :goodjob:

Yes, if you understand the game you can find away to do everything. For me, that way is usually alchemical buffing.

Now Snagarz and I are going hunting and farming.

I have Speechcraft as a major on at least four characters, and three of those also have Alchemy. I am a big fan of controllable skills, and these are the two most controllable skills in the game.

There is something to say about playing builds that fly in the face of conventional wisdom. Good luck, Zak.

I have a soft spot for orcs, there is one orc NPC in Oblivion that has my real name what are the chances of that? I actually like taking both armor skills as a major passively levels up kind of nicely to me.
Athletic as a major would make me wanna ride a horse around to avoid leveling it up all the time.
