TES V Speculation Thread # 41

Might Bethesda have refiled because of the change in definition of the computer game trademark?

if that was the case I doubt they'd have to pay another 650 fee. And in the application it lists that they did

Is that a direct quote from Todd? And did he say that after Fallout 3? (please please please please please please please)

I'm clueless about the second book now. I would have thought we'd hear about it earlier. I can only imagine they'll announce its launch date alongside TES:V's reveal to boost pre-orders and book sales.

Yes, but he said it before Shivering Isles. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/649962-shivering-isles-fan-interview/

If they do decide to wait to reveal anything, that's fine with me. As long as they are working and not playing Chinpokomon.

It isn't fine wih me. I'm getting sick of being patient. :shakehead:

Perhaps they saw the genius in my IHRA Drag Racing (with talking horses) reboot idea and decided to delay TES V for a few years while they worked on it. Sorry guys. :sadvaultboy:

You should have kept your ideas to yourself.

Well, on one hand, this absolutely confirms they are making TES V: Skyrim, but it also could be bad news. If TES V doesn't get announced in GI, then frankly, I give up on any hope of an announcement for at least another year. But, we'll see....

If they spent two full years "retooling" the engine and only doing that, then I'm expecting an amazing game engine, and making the actual gameworld is the easiest part of game development, from what I hear. Also, the entire development team wouldn't work on a game engine. Artists would draw concept art, writers would get the plot written out, etc.

EPIC games has been working on the Unreal 4 engine for 7 years now... (btw it hasn't been released yet).

Is this legitimate?

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2008/10/bethesda-wants/

Quote: "The next entry in the Elder Scrolls RPG series should come out in 2010, according to Bethesda’s Paul Oughton."

Is Paul Oughton a credible source for Bethesda or ZeniMax?

Yeah, but did you see the Unreal Engine 3 in Gears 3? It looks amazing now, imagine what Unreal Engine 4 will look like.

Just thought it intresting to note the application for the new trademark (that I discovered WHERES MY CREDIT haha) was signed by whomever has to sign from zenimax on june 17th( the final day of e3) we still don't technically know what happened in their booth. Just an observation

EDIT: the signee was J Griffen Lesher who through some research I've found out that he is ZeniMax’s Vice President for Legal Affairs,

Heed this good advice everyone. It is quite possible a longer road awaits us; but even though Sylt's phone call seemed to indicate that an announcement would be enough, the lack of precedence for any other game registering a trademark before the release has always troubled me. Hold the line...flee from despair for the hour is near!

Keep in mind also that the trademark application to expire is for the game manuals and magazines, not for the game itself. The new trademark is actually for the game itself (and the old trademark won't expire until 8-14).
