Game add on's

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 4:45 pm

Hi,

Well i got to the 'Purifier' and thought i could install the 'double' add on to continue but i cannot see how to continue? i've tried both ways and failing to put the code in but it just goes to the 'crew' reel then back to the menu, when i press continue we are back about to run the final scene.

i have fallout 3 retail dvd. Also the game add on pack with Broken steel/point lookout dvd that i have tried to install. I also have the 'The pit/operation anchorage dvd which i might as well install now too.

'The problem might be connected to this' - I expected it to launch when i put the disc in but i had to double click in explorer, i first chose the installer but it did not seem to work so then i used the one that mentions the UK as opposed to the US choice, it did go on about patch 1.6 and i know when i installed the game a couple of weeks ago that GFWL installed 1.7 but i've had this silliness from games many times before so i just said OK assuming it would see it's error like Directx has so often it seemed to install but there was a warning by win 7 asking if it had installed properly, being 2 am i just said yes, now i cannot find it in 'add/remove to try and reinstall so i just tried to install again, still the same. As you can tell i'm possibly missing the 'obvious' please humiliate me with a 'oh its this 123' as i have read a few posts and seen the 'bashing' u give 'Bethesda' for the add on integration but nothing relating to my need.

System is Win 7 H P 64bit running on my self built Athlon 6000+ (on crazy CPU up @3150 ish) 4G ballistix @std epd 1 8800GT 512M Asus Crosshair 2 Formula board, 1 x sata 2 drive.

I have been playing this for silly amounts of times over the past few weeks a few 8 hr sessions lol it does crash to desktop occasionally and for no reason i can detect i'm running on Ultra with the AA turned down to 2x i think @1024x1280 res, it sometimes gets caught out an skips some frames but overall feels nice an loose (not laggy).

Sorry about the post length bit i've tried to cover all the obvious ask's in advance.

Well just in case, did you turn them on in the game's menu? You need to launch from the disc, not the shortcut, and there'll be some menu options. I forget what it's called now but it should be obvious once you see it. Just open it up and make sure all the DLCs are checked, otherwise they're not turned on. If you don't have the GOTY edition you have to do that yourself, it's not automatic.

As I found out yesterday, there are two clickable exe files in the game folder that will launch the game. One will go right into the game; the other will bring up the launcher so you can select the add-ons. You want the latter; it's called Launcher something...

Yes. It's that same screen you got when you first installed the game and started it for the first time, where it checks your system and adjusts your video settings. You'll see a list of options on the right hand side. One of them will open up to show what mods and addons you have installed. You need to click on the box beside the name in order to activate them.
