In-game houses

I think there should be more interesting use of this in Skyrim. Firstly, I think there should be more quests related to them. When a house does nothing but store items it seems a little pointless. It'd be much better if you could get more quests, or even a series of quests, like a mini faction, relating to the house you buy. I also think more variation in house style would be cool. Like if you wanted, you could get a house in a small cosy village in the mountains rather than a big city. Or if you are rich and famous, maybe even get a castle with lots of secrets to explore. And what if you could turn a house into an inn or something as a side business?

Just throwing a few ideas around. What do you think?

I say our houses can get robbed in Skyrim. Or we can rent it out to other villagers and get money from it instead of it just sitting there. I really liked buying a bunch of houses in Fable 2 and then renting them out.

I'm not quite sure I want a ton of quests tied to the house, but they need to reappraise what houses are available. Make sure that big cities have really nice places to live at very hefty price tags... It was very silly to be the Hero of Cyrodiil and when the battle was over, sulk back to the waterfront to sleep in a wood shack.

This.

I really feel would like us to get a fortress this time again, and be able to build it up in sections, even make choices about what kind of upgrades we want. Not just interior upgrades though, I want to add whole sections, walls, or towers. If its not in the game, I'll probably end up making a mod for it.

And on top of that you would have to supply the expansions with the materials needed by chopping down trees and mining granite and limestone.

No kidding! Why would you even buy a house in Oblivion? You could find free beds outside or if you really wanted to roleplay that bad you just played 5 coins to stay at an in.

Only house you bought was the haunted one and that was for the quest!

Maybe for creating your own house you would need to first buy an empty lot or one with an old house and then it would let you use a more user friendly version of the construction set, so that you can place house pieces in different places and move them around, as well as furniture, which you would be technically purchasing in this mode, and then it will render the outside of your house as well?

I would like it if they allowed you to build your own(hirering others of course) and based on how much you payed you could build antrhing from a shack to a castle. If you buildt one early you could upgrade later if you wanted.

I heard someone mention that houses can be robbed, brilliant! this way the player has to get a powerful lock on the house. Maybe after a beasthunt the player comes back to the house and first thing he sees is a burglar pisst off because he cant't break the lock :P
