I decided it would be interesting to see what people prefer on the forums more. I for one love semi-auto / single shot as I as a person am always trying to be as efficient as possible. I like my shots to hit their mark. I also like the mantra "1 shot 1 kill"

I lump semi-auto and single shot together as they function pretty much the same way in game as you don't have to think about cocking the gun after each shot. They both have a set delay between shots. Honestly with a true semi-auto gun you can fire as rapidly as you can pull the trigger, but of course this is a game.

Let's see what you all think. Feel free to post up why as well, but try not to fight over which is best.

Saves ammo. Also I like sniping and those are made for sniping vs auto.

On a somewhat related note, I really hate mini guns. Yes they do a lot of damage, but it takes them a long time to spin up. With the FWE mod that gives enemies too much time to inflict damage. Also miniguns burn through too much ammo.

Usually I prefer Single Shot, or Semi-Auto. Even burst shot. But in FO3, with VATS it doesn't really matter, so I voted Automatic, as it works like burst shot.

My two favorite guns are the Xuanlong assault rifle and Lincoln's repeater.

About the same here for me too. My most recent character has been a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3047.jpg, using only single-shot rifles (she went from Hunting Rifle -> Ole Painless -> Lincoln's Repeater / a modded .223 Winchester). Before her I played an http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/Computer%20Games/Fallout3043.jpg, starting with the Chinese AR, and then upgrading to the Xuanlong. I had fun with both, but I liked the rifle chick better.

yeah, I love 44's and Lincoln's Repeater, and with WMK you can put a scope on it. I wish there was a .500 magnum long barreled revolver with scope.

I voted semi/single. I would have liked to see those two seperated in the poll. If they were, I'd say "single shot" hands down. Ammo preservation and sniper activities. In Oblivion, it was bows and ranged spells...Fallout 3 it's Lincoln's Repeater and the Sniper Rifle...

I love 'energy weapons' so I prefer single shot, especially for 'sneak attack' with high 'critical chance'....

At first I took this as a real-life question.
