I've run into a problem with the bartering mechanixm - clicking the +/- button to add or subtract the merchant's price works erratically. I was used to it changing the amount by holding down the button until I reached what I wanted to offer. I find now that in some stores, not all, I have to alter the price one click on the +/- at a time. In others, the old behavior still works, my offer price will change in the correct direction as long as I click and hold on the button.

Has anyone run into this same issue, and is it due to a mod or a problem in the game engine itself?

TIA for your help. It's very monontonous having to click the mouse button x times, particularly when the sums get into the high three digit numbers and greater.

I used to have that issue, but I solve it by just open morrowind.ini in notepad and edit this line.

Max FPS=240 to 60and also add this lineAllowYesToAll=1 (just above SkipProgramFlows=0)

That should fix it for you, but remember to backup morrowind.ini file first before you edit it. :)

Changed the .ini file and it seems to work. Could you explain what the changes did and how that affects the merchants' issue?

If I understand things correctly, the Max FPS change works on the frames per second displayed in game, and the AllowYesToAll means that Morrowind would start without popping up the screen asking if you wanted to continue running the morrowind.exe in spite of the warnings. BTW, the screen about running the .exe file still poppued up after making the edit, but had an option "yes to all", so I guess I'm wrong about the YesToAll edit hiding that popup window.

FWIW, the Morrowind warnings don't look different from what they had been previously, so I'll take that as a good sign :)

By setting the game's Max FPS to something closer to your actual refresh rate helps synchronize the timing between frames and io requests from devices like your mouse.

It's always a good idea when modding MW to add the AllowYesToAll=1 . It's not doing anything to alleviate the bartering problem, rather it gives you an extra option when the in-game warning dialog window pops up to chose "yes to all" and skip thru all the warnings in one go. However, that won't prevent MW from crashing if something would normally cause a crash (i.e. missing assets, bad scripting, etc).

Thank you for the info. I certainly had no clue that changing the FPS would help synchronize the timing.

And WRT the YesToAll, in my most previous setup, I normally only had one warning dialogue window pop up. Some time before that, I had had an install that gave multiple warnings as if in a loop, but I solved that by re-installing from scratch. THAT did the job :) In the back of my mind, I've usually looked at the number of times that the warning dialogues popped up as an indicator of whether I should try to drop mods from my install.
