[WIPZ] Rivet City Tower Home

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:31 pm

See, this is why I never get anything done!

I was going to include this as part of my Rivet City expansion (yes, that's still ongoing!) but I'm actually thinking to release it separately because my RC Exp is all on the lower/mid deck whereas this is on the roof. I'm trying to limit the impact on the exterior to avoid issues and conflicts. The apartment would basically be in the tower section that sticks up from the ship.

I've long had the idea of having a house mod in two parts, whereby you get a small self-contained annexe that would serve as an apartment for a low-level character, and then that would open out into a much larger house for wealthier characters - so I think I'll do that with this one. I might repeat the idea with other houses later one.

Just really curious to see what you'd want in a house like this - I'm planning on going for a nice-but-not-too-nice house - no debris or rubble, but nothing too pristine either. Not too many rooms to get lost in, but plenty of storage and practical use.

What are the must-have rooms or features that you'd want?

I want it to be nice, but not to spend months on it or anything. Preferably, something I can finish in a day or two, before going back to my Scrapcave mod (which I'm still working on intermittently).

I am usually rather pleased with your mods, so I wont throw out too many ideas. What I would like to see is a house that isn't completely self-sufficient, meaning that I might make a tactical choice to go get my drinks at the Muddy Rudder, because my sink is filthy. Or something like that.

I look forward to seeing it!

Well i'm a practical rather than aesthetic type of guy so anything useful would be nice - Not having to travel through a hundred doors to get the room i want, a storage area with plenty of different containers for me to separate all my stuff into for sorting (I'm a collector of sorts), useful tools like something fix my weapons or convert half my junk into something useful. A vendor with a decent cap supply (around 500) O.k the vendor isn't needed if your in RC since there a whole market below you. A platform to push Sticky off of would be hilarious too (I'm evil, so what?)

I thought that the aircraft carrier island on Rivet City was all taken by the RC Security, but if you are going to put a penthouse flat in it then it would be nice to have a hatch that leads to a catwalk on the outside of the tower with a fast travel marker on it. That would make it unnecessary to travel through a dozen doors to get there, as a previous poster mentioned.

Other than that, just a simple Navy decor with a command center from which I can launch air strikes on the rest of the Wasteland.

 Not sure about the nuclear strikes, but sure - a fast-travel marker can be arranged. I'm literally just slapping a door in the stairwell up the central tower. "Not witty, but effective" as the saying goes.

I think the vendor thing is answered by the tactical request - no need for any of that stuff since you're so near the market - but plenty of individual containers is fine.

As for the sink, I'm thinking in terms of using the "good water" setting (minor rads) and the Tenpenny-clean bathroom suite - i.e. looks like it's been scrubbed, but isn't new.

You had me at 'ongoing' :)

I'm always partial to a desk and filing cabinet for keeping stuff in, and a radio. Other than that i'm happy with anything.
