Just something I wanted to say

I love you all :P

TY for all these great mods for the best RPG of the decade!

I just installed morrowind. Haven't played it since it got released. And then I was only playing vanilla!

Now I remembered it and installed it, heard the beautiful music but I did not hit new game because I must try all the awesome mods you have created. Thanks to all of you guys making mods and ofc the people who made this awesome game. Its sad they don't make games like this anymore but who cares we still have Morrowind and this awesome modding community! now I must concentrate and do some research!

Can someone recommend a few good mods? HAHA j/king. I will do my research :P

Good luck to all of you and may this game and its community live on forever!

P.S. Wow I am so lucky I have even forgotten the story. I only remember that you start off in a prison or something, that the main villain was Dagoth Ur or something like that and that the 2nd expansion involves werewolves. Oh yeah and you can be a vampire! Thats all I can remember. First time I am happy to be blessed with a selective memory. HAHA its like I am playing a new game only I know its gonna be awesome :P

Oh yeah it was Oblivion. Never really got into that one :P Imo Morrowind is a much better game.

Ty for the link. Its more of a link of links of recommended mods. And in some cases link of links of links of recommended mods :P or link of links with guides which have links to links with recommended mods :P

Im gonna go for Morrowind for 2009 then check out the links with the lists and add a few game balancing and game improving mods, then start the game and then add content mods. I read somewhere that some mods must be installed before you start a new game and some can be installed after. Is it safe to assume that mods that add new areas quests weapons armors etc can be installed after I have started a new game?

Texture replacers can be installed after a new game. New quests, armors, areas will not require a new game, though things might not work properly without a new game.

Try some of Vurt's replacers, awesome sh*t! ;)

Another http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/ with good suggestions for new players. :read:
But also Povuholo's Morrowind 2010 threads (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1110304-povuholos-morrowind-2010/, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1120092-povuholos-morrowind-2010-graphics-and-sounds/) is a good place to start. :D

wow thx everyone. nice to see such a welcoming community.

I am checking out the various links as we speak and I have to say these guides and recommendations are almost as important as the mods themselves especially for noobs like me :P

My only issue is I haven't installed any tools like wrye mash or mlox. I am just downloading mods and installing them. Is this ok?

Take care

You're welcome. :)

It depends of what kind of performance you want to play Morrowind and I also suggest that you install http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1008, http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=4519 into the game.
You can use http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/ (python is not required) for managing the mods you want to use.

yeah these 2 were the first ones I got.

Then I got MGE and now I am installing landmass mods like Tamriel Rebuilt. My only issue is I don't know which ones to get so they won't overlap. I found this http://www.mwmythicmods.com/MAPoMODSbyCyronaut.jpg but I don't understand it :(

nice to see such a welcoming community.

no one really welcomed me, but i have an old join date. i just kinda snuck in and pretended like i belong.

as for the map you posted, i hear tale that it's woefully out of date.

i THINK MLOX will warn you of land conflicts, but am not too sure (i dont run any landmass adding mods myself, at least, not yet)

here's a map with TR added.

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/5642/mapswithtrbyvality.jpg

disclaimer, i have nothing to do with this map or its creation.

The http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21154 is a good mod and I find it with Yacoby's http://search2.yacoby.net/. :)

Ok got a couple more questions that have been bugging me.

1) What are the benefits of using wrye mash to install the various mods I have dled? Isn't it easier to just manually install them because some mods have many esps and you must only chose one?

2) I have dled both wrye mash and the testool to merge the lvled lists. Should I use only one or both? Do they both accomplish the same thing?

3) I got Tamriel Rebuilt. What other big landmass mods are known not to conflict with it? I wish to get as much content as possible but without conflicts.

Sorry for the noob questions but I am a noob :P

1. ease of access. it also allows for easy uninstallation, something manual installing doesent do =D

2. wyre is preferred, i understand testool is kind of outdated

3. check the map i posted. i think TR is on map 2 currently, so anything in the areas of map 1 or 2 of TR will conflict.

I say yes to the first two, but no to the last one because the latest version of TR mod has both map1 and map2 included.

ty for the fast reply.

The link is great but I just don't exactly understand where the TR maps begin and end. Also why does it say in Silgrats Tower readme that it (partially) conflicts with TR? Does this mean I can use it or not? I read a post somewhere that said I can? And from the map there don't seem to be any conflicts?

Also can I use the wyre tool to play a mod, then uninstall it and play another which would have otherwise been in conflict or do I need to decide which landmass mods I want and install them before I start a new game?

1: I install mods manually. I like to know exactly what folders I'm installing, what's inside the folders and where the folders are being placed. If a mod comes with an .exe installer I install the mod to a temp location and delete the .exe installer. I don't much care for automation, either in real life or in games.

2: As far as merging leveled lists goes, Mash merges leveled lists more efficiently than TESTool and doesn't need a resequencer to make it work properly (as TESTool does). TESTool came out long before before Wrye showed up on the modding scene and it was, for a year or more, the only way we could merge lists. But I think nowadays most folks would agree that Mash does a better job.

3: Ald-Vendras, Wizards Island, White Wold of LoKKen, Solstheim Castle, Tusar, Havish, Velayia, Sea of Destiny, Silgrad Tower/Blacklight are a few of the landmass mods that, currently, do not conflict with Tamriel Rebuilt.

1) thats the way I feel too. Thats why I asked. Glad to see someone agrees. I do the same with exe. I even got some textures by connary that come in a bsa file and I will extract them too and install them manually. And then I can overwrite with other textures if I want and know which ones will be in by the order I overwrite them.

2) glad to see everyone agrees on that one :P

3) Cool bro! combined with the map link I finally know what I can play

Thx all you have helped me very much

Got another problem now. I've been trying to use mlox but it is giving me errors when i start it

this is what it looks like

I tried both versions ( the exe one and the one you have to manually dl python) and they both give similar (but not identical) errors.
if anyone can help I'appreciate it.

you wouldent happen to have non-standard-US characters in your directory path to ..\morrowind\data files or mlox would you? things like ? a ü, etc?

or, if in a post-XP windows, you are running as admin, yes?

Well I do have a non-standar US language installed in my computer but nothing in morrowind.

Microsoft made windows after XP? Didn't notice :P

also if it helps I am running wrye mash fine. If I can't find a solution I will use it to redate the mods I want changed in the load order but I would really like to try out mlox.

That has nothing to with it and here is the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/page__view__findpost__p__16639403 why mlox is not working properly. :)

We with non-US OS cannot use the update your loadorder function in mlox (a least I can't use it and maybe Zas too).

Yup thats it I think. I get the error when its trying to update the loadorder. Guess I'm stuck with wrye mash. Its no big deal. Just have to manually redate 100 or so mods. Oh well. Part of me will enjoy it :P

You can still use mlox just to see if you have got any mod conflict in your LO. :)

Return to III - Morrowind
