Would the Oblivion Graphics Extender be able to do something with water? Morrowind's graphics extender allowed the makers to create amazing water shaders with caustics, waves, good reflections (even in the far distance) and what not. I know they're two entirely different programs, but still is there something that could be done with it as far as anyone knows?

I've tried most or all of the water mods and I like Enhanced Water, but it really depends on your taste. Some of them make the water really clear and transparent. Others add a blue tint to it. Natural Water (part of Natural Environments) is actually one of the better, but I still think that Enhanced Water is superior to it.

Check the link for Enhanced Water provided by Riveon; in the gallery you will find some screenshots which offer a comparison between some of the different mods.

If you want realistic water, go for Enhanced Water. If you are looking for pretty, crystal clear water there are better ones.

As for Reflection Blur, it does a great job at removing the blockiness from the reflections, but at a price - actors no longer casue ripples in the water. :(

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8011 is good, I prefer the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23064 with better underwater visibility. The only thing I don't like about this mod is the surface of water is a flat steel gray, very funky.

I'm currently trying out http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12763 which is nice, though when submerged the visibility out of water is more or less nil.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6680 used to be my watermod of choice (though many people disliked it for the clarity--it's more or less completely transparent), but the lack of SI support and the fact that it gives TES4EDIT fits and Wrye Bash skips it due to funky edits or something I moved on.

Theres another I tried recently, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3763 the blue is a bit over the top -- any water is dayglo cyan -- and again, also pretty sure it doesn't support SI, and the submerged > surface view is just a big dayglo cyan wall.

In real life, unless the water is very clean and there is bright sunlight, one rarely can se further than a few meters down, so I find EW to be perfect.

Another vote for Enhanced Water and Enhanced Water SI (not HDMI, have not used it, like murky, realistic underwater water.)

Would it be possible to adjust or toggle the opacity of the water while you're underwater?

Specifically, I find the murky water fine most of the time but occasionally wish I could see further - would something like water goggles or a spell to make the water temporarily clearer be possible?

I looked at several water mods and a lot of them have great surfaces, especially Enhanced Water. My problem though was that I didn't like the near blindness I felt in it so I gave up the beautiful surface water, which really isn't all that bad in the other mods. I liked a little more clarity underwater so I used Better Water ( I think). I didn't realize there was a modified version of EW though. Thanks Mythgaard for posting those links. I'll definately try out the EWv20 HDMI as it sounds just like what I wanted in my water.
