Mod Inventories

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 5:36 am

Im sure this has been asked before but when I place a mod's armor and weapons in the inventory of an npc, it saves like it is still there with no errors. But if i re-load the G.E.C.K. all the modded items dissapear, or if i go ingame they are naked and unarmed. I am remembering to load all the .esps ( enclave commander and armor ).

You need to make the mod that adds the NPC (if not vanilla or added by the mod that adds the items), and the mod that adds the armor to an existing NPC, depend on the mod that adds the items to the game. There's more to it than just activating the esps in the GECK. See Mod De-isolation on the http://geck.gamesas.com/.

Since the mod's an .esp, if you load it along with yours and set yours as the active mod, usually you can duplicate an item (along with any other custom parts it uses) and save the duplicate as part of your mod. That way it'll remain and won't be dependant on the other mod. The GECK doesn't care if you copy parts of other .esp's, but it won't let you use things from them.

Hehe I do get what Wolf3131 means though, the TES:CS for Morrowind was easier to use. Though I must admit, the G.E.C.K. has some nifty features (I'll take Nav Meshing over Path Nodes any day).

The G.E.C.K. has more you can do with scripting, but its a lot less user freindly. Unfortunitally i just don't have the time on my hands right now to learn the whole thing. Strangley, however, the easiest thing for me in the G.E.C.K. is to modify scripts, one of the hardest things to do in the CS. Probably because its the only thing you can do with both of the games. So, if i try to create an enclave commander faction, will i have to worrey about this. EC is a .esm. Also, is there any other problems i might run into with EC?
