I fail to see how it could be illegal, after Uriel VII signed the legalization of caliper trading not too long before the "accident"
Besides, what would the count want with illegal calipers?

hrm, well I do things like:
- pick a hobby (book collecting, plant collecting, decorating, exploring)
- pick a lifestyle (city boy, country boy - sleeping in camps only, that sort of thing)
- every 5th character or so (pick a number), don't restart til the game's won on said character

although I have to say, I usually only bother to finish a game once, the rest of the time I mess about completely - most of the time I'll ignore the main quest and just do side stuff or whatever I want, til I get bored, then onto a new plan

it also helps if you stick with your plan. Let one evolve first, so you aren't tempted to start changing it, but once it's 'grown' or the character's grown into it, don't change it.

anyway that's some of the stuff that helps me. I just wish I could get my kids to stick with the above :P

To root out the corrupt and racist counts? That would be a cool idea.

Haha I would love that personally but I play on 360. Would be nice to have a questline to like eliminate political corruption in Cyrodiil. About half of the Counts/Countesses could qualify, also would be cool to have a seperate one for Janus Hassildor to see if people would accept him for what he is and know that he is a very smart and powerful wizard and does a great job dealing with his situation.

Why does everyone say he's nice? The only time I saw him out of the castle was in the Mages Quest line

I never said he's nice haha. Unlike some of the other Counts/Countesses he seemed like he actually know what was happening with the crisis.

Is it too late for this meeting? I really need this in my life :'(

Seriously I couldn't begin to list my characters, and I've never hit level 5. I have no idea why I keep doing this!

I'm mainly here because I just made ANOTHER new one (no exaggeration I'm doing at least 2 a day) and I like it, but i'm not sure how long until I throw him aside too.

Damnit, I thought I'd cured my problem.

Apparently not. Some of you may remember not long ago I was talking about a Healer by the name of Lirielle Tailas. Well, she was going strong, approaching level 6 (I like to level slowly), but then it started. I began to have twinges. Thoughts about other characters.

The issue is, I LOVE Lirielle. She's so different to characters I usually play, and her personality quirks make me smile day in and day out. It's just, I keep having problems with levelling.

I only put 3 skills that I'll be using as majors, then fill the rest up with fillers. That way I'll end up getting to around level 20 and it'll still be fun for me to play (I hate level 30+ tbh).

Her majors were: Alteration, Mysticism, Restoration, Blunt, Hand to Hand, Heavy Armour, Light Armour
She also utilises Illusion, Conjuration and Alchemy.

I'm aiming for +5 increases in Intelligence and Willpower as she doesn't have much time to get to 100 in them (as I'd like her to be).

Could anyone help me design a better class for Lirielle?

If not I think I'll have to make a note of her somewhere, and re-create Varesa Ienith, my Dunmer Nightblade, and I don't really fancy that :(

Thank God I've never had to problem of re-starting again and again and again... due mostly to the fact that I really really HATE the starting tutorial dungeon thing, it's too long and boring; and I've never gotten around to DLing any mods that change the start point of the game. Which I probably won't do, or I'll be re-starting x100 with the best of them. :P

So... just think about how annoying the tutorial is! That'll do it for sure.

A lot of people make a save just before leaving the sewer gates that they revert to. They don't actually click "New Game" everytime. Before leaving the gate, you have the option to change everything.

I keep a save like that too, to avoid the tutorial. :D

I sooooo wish you hadn't told me that. I have so many wonderful new character ideas so now I can totally abandon the ones I have now and yay!

... Damn it. And come to think of it, why haven't I ever realized this myself?

Honestly, I've never really had a problem with restartitus.
I've had five characters overall, but I don't abandon the ones I've made before.
My current playing characters are Kiva, Kain and Jarved. A mage, a stealth, and a warrior respectively.
My other two characters were on the ps3 version, but I just prefer the pc version these days ^_^
The only real reason I made new characters was because I ran out of quests to do.
I've only just discovered that exploring and dungeon diving is just as fun :)
I think I'm going to be playing Kiva and Jarved for a while.
Might restart Kain, as his stats didn't turn out so well.

True, the only real pickle is that u might have started thinking of a mage's build (and thus pumped magic skills), and later when you want to try a rogue, all these advance r still there, and not ur marsman, light armour, etc... though the increases r surely minimal for if u consider 10 levels.

I think the trick is to find a personality and a character type you like BEFORE you start thinking skills and stats and race and birthsign and all that. If your favorite movie is, say, Highlander, build a Highlander character and and let the skills be a secondary thing to his actual person. I think the restartitis is spawned by the many skill builds available, and they really just break the game if you keep changing your mind about them.

I'm on my first character and have no plans on making another on anytime soon because I knew this person before I started the game. Being one of my old RPG characters all I had to do was apply the Oblivion universe to her, and there we go! I imagine the same can be done with any personality.

And then you have three save files...

I have restartitus, but lately I've had a few really good characters: Silas the Mage, Robin of the Hood, the Argonian Im-Leet (based off of a joke from M'aiq in Morrowind), and, as always, Clawhammer. I haven't needed to start over. One week in. (I started Im-Leet recently).

Oh, and I will be joining this group. Even though I think I have settled the problem, the urge is still here...

I really need help here guys, I can't let this addiction control me anymore. Dammit I feel like I should have at least closed one oblivion gate by now.

What I finally did was simply take all my favorite skills and set them as majors, then make my character look as much like as possible, The character is me and that justifies any roleplaying choices I make. To me I had to make a systematic list of what I really wanted to use.
