Time to redo FO1 and FO2?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:58 am

Forget I said anything. I've just found the in-game picture of the Fallout Remake in Progress, looks like it happening, NICE! There's Vault 13 & character with the green HUD display, good stuff :) Its being done with a conversion of the FO3 engine, FO1&2, Excellent! I like these people who are they???? I'm probably not allowed to do a link, can a MOD let me know if I can do a link to this website for others to have a gander??????? I like their attitude, its positive :) Woof Woof!

It would be nice if they have infinite development resources, but I'd rather they further the storyline than resurrect the old games.

That's something I hear all the time at other forums when I suggest a remake lol ;) But Jeez I just hate using PCs for gaming, my FO Tactics BoS file just keeps crashing the game, I'm sick of PCs, even if I could play it on my 360 I'd be a lot happier :) I don't mind remakes though, I'd love to see the PS1 version of DOOM get completely remade with up-to-date graphics, all 59 Levels ;) I'd keep most of the sounds and music in it, a couple of things I'd change here or there, new is good but I like to revisit old games and when I do it takes a while to get used to crap graphics.

Remaking things is just lazy as hell, that same amount of effort could be put into making a new game, its like the remake trend in Hollywood, I mean what if some idiot decides "hey, Catcher in the Rye is old, its time for an update", I don't think many people would be happy.

and what is with this obsession with graphics that people have, gah it just irks me to the point of insanity, graphics don't make a game good, gameplay and story does, not to mention not every game needs to be an FPS.

Agreed, and usually those movies svck ... Special effects alone doesn't imply it will be a good movie. Maybe I'm old school in my choice of movies as well because most productions Hollywood pumps out today are garbage imo.

Why not do Fallout: Pacman?

They're gone folks...the Commodore 64 is dead and buried....

Too bad FO 1 & 2 is DOS and PC?

But anyway a remake would be terrible.

I read an article that said it was possible to play DOS/Win games on a PS3 if you install Linux and with a little tweaking of course. Never tried it myself but it can be done, according to the author at least.

Some modders are currently working on a remake of the originals with a FO3 engine, if anybody is interested.

See link: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fallout-2161

Not exactly my cup of tea because I love the originals for what they are.
