I am getting some money soon and I plan on buying a laptop with a 500-550 dollar range. This is a Asus Laptop I found at Bestbuy with these specs:

I plan on playing games like Garrysmod,HL2,Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2 so on so forth. Will this work nicely? I got two weeks to choose yes or no.

You do not have a real video graphics card, and without that, you are stuck playing older games and casual, simple ones. Since you chose to buy one of the least expensive computers, that is more or less part of what you saved, in that you threw away the chance at playing better games.

You also threw away the opportunity to upgrade by choosing mobility. Desktops can be easily upgraded. Laptops cannot.

Like Gorath said, without a dedicated video card, you're not going to be doing much gaming. And according to nearly every review of that particular model on Best Buy's website, that model suffers from a debilitating driver conflict that causes white lines to flicker across the screen. So right of the box, it's going to need work. I'd pass.

Unfortunately with that kind budget, you're going to be very hard pressed to find a laptop capable of running very many games.

512MB ATI Mobility Radeon 6370 Graphics Card (possibly a 1gb if I add in 8 more dollars)

Windows 7 64 Bit

320GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

and some other stuff for a grand total of $550 ($558 if I want to get the 1gb Graphics Card which I most likely will)

Mobility Radeon 6370 is basically a renamed Mobility Radeon 5470. It's better than your previous option, but nothing spectacular. Considering the budget though, it's probably one of your better options. Here's another to consider:

Yeah, trying to convince parents to get this while its good. I'm praying for them to say yes and if so I will have it by Tuesday . Cant wait to play some Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat With everything on max. Muahahaha!

I remember that laptop. We were all excited unboxing it and putting it up and then it was gone and discontinued like the following week. I love Asus, but I guess it didn't do too well for the people who actually bought it.

EDIT: Did you even see if Battlefield will run on max? Seeing "graphics" doesn't automatically mean it'll play everything. I don't know how old or graphically nice it is and I'm on a phone, so I can't be bothered checking right now.
