The Repulic of Cyrodill

Here is an idea I came up with as Canzeri, the Republic of Cyrodill, and it has failed twice as an RP because of people going crazy with their characters. Now with my new profile I wan to try it again! Here is my rp idea to be discussed and tweaked until it is a good RP that people will join.

The Republic of Cyrodill:

As the Oblivion Crisis ended, the results of this devastating conflict threw the economy of the Empire into a recession as Cyrodill struggled to recover from its crisis. This recession time caused the gap between poor and wealthy to widen, resulting in a small series of rebellions among the provinces of Cyrodill. Eventually the recession ended, but it ended up with the creation of a newly formed middle class in society. Eventually, the people of the middle and lower classes in society wanted a higher voice in the running of their society. They felt the upper-classmen were the only ones that truly benefited from the current government since everyone on the Council still run by Ocato was wealthy. Daniel Roth, a well-spoken former advisor to Uriel Septim, announced his ideas for a Republic of Cyrodill on Last Seed 10th, 4E 22.

The idea was that with representatives from every province of the current empire and every city in Cyrodill chosen by the people, the power would be split into the "House of Nations" and the "House of Cities". The representatives of the people could be chosen by the people, with a system of tallies and votes which would be collected and counted to see who would win the elections. The House of Nations would deal with Tamriel as a whole, while the House of Cities would deal with the local problems of Cyrodill itself. The citizens of each province would elect a representative for the House of Nations while each city in Cyrodill would elect a representative for the House of Cities. With the system of separate houses of power and voting for the representatives, the people would be given a larger role in the governing of their lands. The middle class would gain more power and the upper class would have to give up some of theirs and as a result of this transformation the provinces controlled by the empire would be given their independence and continue to trade and have good dealings with Cyrodill.

Many saw this as a needed change to save what was left of them, but others saw it as a danger to Cyrodill as a whole. They felt the radical changes Roth voiced would shake the empire to its core, and take power from them in the process. High Chancellor Ocato and the Elder Council condemned Roth and put out a ransom for his capture, he was a wanted man now. He traveled across Cyrodill with a group of nine disciples, one from each city in Cyrodill, teaching them his ideas while escaping the ones that hunted him. But no person could have foreseen the betrayal of one disciple...

Rain's Hand 13th 4E 5: Daniel Roth was assassinated, causing riots in the cities of Cyrodill by the ones that supported his ideas. The nine disciples were hunted, their attackers hoping to stop the spread of Roth's ideas by killing his successors. Three disciples survived, but the other five were killed by both legionnaire and assassins alike. The traitorous disciple that carried out Roth's murder, Alexander Benedict, was rooted out on his way to the Imperial City from Leyawin and beaten to death by the rebellious people of Bravil as he passed the city in his carriage, leaving only the three remaining disciples to possibly carry on Roth's legacy. David Arminius and Roland Dural, two of the three survivors were sick of a corrupted empire where they had to hide their ideas and formed the "Band of the Golden Eagle". They had many disagreements on how to run it however; David wanting a peaceful organization like Roth's while Roland wanted a group that would strike fear into the hearts of the Empire's supporters. Roland took his supporters and formed a separate group, the "Band of the Hidden Snake", which used whatever tactics they thought were needed to fulfill Roth's dream. Recently Roland has left the Band of the Hidden Snake to travel Cyrodill on his own, leaving someone else in command of his group while David continues to search for the third surviving disciple of Roth.

Now it would be a conflict between the rebels and the loyalists in a civil conflict that the whole of Tamriel will be watching.

And this is where you come in; you can join either side of the conflict and decide the fate of the current empire. Certain cities will be friendly to the idea of a Republic and others will only accept the Empire.

Republic friendly cities:
Anvil
Kvatch
Skingrad
Bravil

Empire friendly cities:
Chorrol
Bruma
Cheydinhal
Imperial City
Leyawin

GUILDS:
The Mage's guild is siding with the Empire since their main building is in the Imperial City. They have denounced the "radicals" and have started an investigation into it, so you can join them as an investigator or as a normal mage if you want as long as you support the empire.

The Fighter's guild is siding with no one in particular, just trying to take advantage of the situation to come out ahead. But the guild master is starting to be threatened by the elder council to join them, so the body of the guild has been split between joining the rebels or the Empire.

The Thieves' guild and the Dark Brotherhood continues to act as it always acted, but now the current situation has given them a chance to slowly expand and move a bit more freely.

You can play as a guild member if you want, but your political ties will become important so you might have to either leave the guild or fight against the rebels.

Political Party's:

Republic supporters:
The Band of the Golden Hawk--supports a peaceful approach to achieving its goals

The Band of the Hidden Snake--supports violent, almost terroristic tactics to force the empire into a republic

Empire supporters:
The Imperial Eagle Party--will do whatever it takes to uphold the current empire and its values by keeping the council in control. This would keep Ocato in power, and maybe even gain him some more.

The Imperial Ram party--wants to keep the empire, but wants to present a new bloodline of emperors; the Marius family. The Sentillius family is headed by Gaius Sentillius, who would become emperor if their party succeeds.
