Does anyone here purchase purchase them?
If so how often and what's the most you've won?

I rarely buy them, but today I felt lucky and decided I would and I won 30$ :)

I'v got horrible luck. I'm surprised a car didn't get hit by a meteor, causing an explosion, launching the car tire 8 miles away, causing a biker to swerve, running into a gas station, exploding, causing the gas station to explode, launching an "E" out of an "Esso" sign through my bedroom window crushing me to death.

So no, I don't. Lmao. My luck isn't good enough for lotteries.

My uncle won $1000 on a Christmas scratch-off this year.

I never buy them because the chances of winning are so dismally low and there's nothing stopping the makers from rigging them to not win a damn thing.

Lotteries where you pick numbers are a more viable bet because you can choose the numbers and, although still incredibly low, the odds of getting a match are higher.

When they first came out with them for California, I bought some now and then during the first year. Don't think I ever won more than $5 from one (that was years ago, too, when prizes were much much lower). Haven't since.

And I only play the numbers lotteries when they approach silly levels like 80million. I get one quickpick. What the heck, for a buck, might get lucky. Not that I actually expect to.

Waste of money, I would rather buy something that will be of use to me. Like Cigarettes, or Cheeseburgers. Yes I realize they might not be healthy, but neither is hoping that I will become crazy rich from a scratch ticket.

I buy one maybe twice a year maybe three. The most I've ever won was $25. I just bought one this past week ironically. I lost.

My logic goes: If you buy 5 tickets for $2 each, and you win $10 from one and the rest are duds, then you have won nothing.

However, you have lost nothing as well.

I almost never lose when I play one. The problem is, I almost never win either. The majority of the time I win just enough to get back the cost of the ticket, and nothing more. Very rarely I'll win a higher amount, but even then it's always less than $10. I won $40 once, when I was a kid, but any amounts won before and after that were all substantially lower.

So obviously, I don't buy them a lot. When I do, it's a spur of the moment kind of thing, or if I need a quick boost of whatever chemical makes you feel good when you gamble. And when I remember, I'll very occasionally buy a normal lottery ticket and spread that feeling out over the week, until I inevitably watch the drawing and lose of course. It's nice having something like that to look forward to, and I can definitely see why gambling can be so addicting. Luckily my only addictions are gaming and the internet.

That's not irony; that's a coincidence.

I only scratch the rest of the stuff off of scratches I find because I enjoy it.

I read the title quickly and thought I saw 'instant scratches' and thought ghosts.

As for the 'Instant scratchies', my wife buys them a few times a month and wins no more than 5 dollars.

Don't get them. I work as a cashier for a small family market, and I see people come in every day that drop hundreds of dollars at a time, and sometimes come back with a couple dollars worth of winners. The odds of winning are insane, that's how the state makes their money.

I generally do not buy them or any form of lottery however I have bought a couple before. At most I won $2, this is from the $1 tickets, my friend however once won $50 from a $2 ticket if I recall correctly.

The lottery is a tax on people who can't do math.

Scratch-and-win tickets is a special tax on people who can't do math and actually like rigged games.

At work, sometimes people will scratch tickets right there in front of me. When they lose, they will scratch out all the other prizes and scream out "I almost won a million dollars!" :shakehead:

I'm pretty sure every scratch ticket has a million dollar prize just to get the stupid people hooked...
