How would I make a brute chraracter?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 5:14 am

Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on how to build a brute character. By that I mean, one that can walk into a room of Overlords and just crush them, because I had so much strength and endurance. In the past I've only played Stealthy characters, but I'm wondering if such a character could be built that had the extremes of endurance and strength. Right now I use only light armors, and I get shredded pretty fast. I really don't know what attributes would go into such a character, one that is so strong and tough, that they could just say, "the hell with sneak, the hell with stealth...I'm just gonna bust in and start killing...and have the endurance to pull it off.
.
I don't particularly like big guns, but I love melee, and unarmed attacks, as well as small guns, I use some big guns but only as a last resort.

So any tips on how to build this person I'd love to hear them. If you need more specific info just ask and I'll get as specific as needed.

Thanks, G

i'm not the greatest at character builds but this might be a good start

S- 10
P- 5
E- 10
C- 1
I- 3
A- 6
L- 5

Tag
Unarmed/Melee
Medicine (you're going to take a lot of punishment)
???

you could also put int all the way down to 1 and put the rest in agility then take 2 out of perception and put that in agilty as well
that could work not quite sure, although be sure to head to the Springvale school and grab the spiked knuckles that always seem to spawn

I have 2 characters at the minute, my level 11 sneaky guy with 100 small guns and 80 sneak and lockpick. i only use 5 guns, blackhawk, ol painless, the terrible shotgun, reservist rifle, and the gauss rifle. he is my sneaky evil guy.

and i made one last night who is going to be a good soldier trooper kinda guy who uses winterized t51-b, he has high endurance strength and perception, his tag skills are energy weapons, unarmed, and explosives :) he will be great when ive started proper (just escaped vault so far)

Special, anything, but STR and END at 9, use bobble head t boost them to 10. If you have BS, then wait til you reach level 30 and then get the other bobblehead to get max special.

I'd recommend big guns, melee, exlosives, unarmed...etc.

Also, if you have O:A. get the Winterized T-51b, it's the best armor in the game and with the right perks can get you a permanent 85(max) DR. Now that's a tank.

kj Could you break the 85 max DR down for me.....I want this tank you speak of, aarg! Is the 85 like more hit points, or just perks that get you up to that number?

Just as important to make the character look right :)

Short hair, eye's wide apart and a big chin would be a good start.... then anything else that makes the face look distorted :D

Forgot to mention I remember a thread a while ago that said you could get the unarmed skill above 100, I think it involved using skill points to max it out then read the all the pugulism skill books afterwards and this allowed it to go above 100. I've never tried it though and it might not be that simple?

If you really want a brute character you really need to go with big guns imho. The character I beat all the DLC except for broken steel (Before I accidentally erased him) was a walking tank of destruction. 85 DR, 80 rad resistance, and a little over 500hp.

DR is your defense rating. The number is the percent of damage it protects from. With a DR of 50 a 80 damage strike would do 40 damage as 50% or half of the damage is blocked. With 85 DR attacks only do 15% of their normal damage.

How to get 85 DR
Spoiler
Take the toughness and cyborg perks for 20 DR total, finish the wasteland survival guide while using the tough (strength and endurance) answers to moira's questions for 6 DR, get the perk from the Pitt DLC, get barkskin from the oasis quest, and then get the superior defender perk to round it out. Then also wear the winterized T51B. suit+helmet=55DR, and the armor has such a crazy high armor health rating that it never needs repair because it never wears down enough to be noticable.

My highly successful build looked like this:

S. 8
P. 6
E. 9
C. 1
I. 9
A. 1
L. 6

You can get 10 endurance with the bobblehead, and 10 strength from the bobble head and
Spoiler
The ant might perk from the Those! quest

You do not really need charisma, and all agility does for you is add 2 A.P. per point, and give access to perks you do not need. Big guns work better outside of VATS so you don't really need the AP

Tag big guns, repair, and then choose a third skill of either Explosives, unarmed, melee, lockpicking, or science.

It works awesome and I think you would love it.

A lot of what makes your character is your perks to. Go with perks that can really help your character like Toughness, Adamantium Skeleton, and Life Giver, ect there are others.
