Please no spiders 2

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:04 am

Hehe my brother just got a remote control tarantula, I'd love to send it into your room while you're playing :D I think the biggest killer is how they're animated and whether they can go up the sides of walls. I'm okay with spiders but the way their legs move is a little unnerving. Play Dark Messiah, I know you'll just love the spiders in that :D

I liked the spider in Dark Messiah it was very easy to kill. only played that level though, then sold the game. I find it very boring considering how hyped up it was.

I was actually a kind person and helped her out with her fear by giving a practical solution. Please don't take phobias so nonchalantly. A "real" phobia is something most people know nothing about. I for one get very unnerved and very scared of spiders, but I don't mind that. I do have a real phobia. It's astrophobia (or so I call it) it's the fear of an astronomical phenomena causing destruction to the world, a dragon destroying the world doesn't bother me btw. I seriously can't look at the night sky for more than a few seconds. The sky thing is because of a childhood accident of falling off of monkey bars while hanging upside down and busting my chin. I have a fear of falling into space and imploding. So those are my phobias. Ironicly I love stars, and space. Star trek is my favorite TV series. And I liked the DLC for the observatory in oblivion. So I can't relate with a game bothering me, but I can understand if it does. If anyone here seriously thinks they'd be bugged, excuse the pun, by the spiders I'll give you some advice that should help.

When I was a teenager, I lived in Utah for a while, and my Dad and I used to like to go explore old ghost towns, abandoned mines and whatnot.

So one day (early spring) we go to this old abandoned mining town, and find a tunnel through a defunct old earthen dam. We head in a bit, and my Dad says "Looks like the wall is moving." I reach out to touch it, and just as I do, I realize that the walls and ceiling are covered in thousands and thousands of daddy long legs spiders.

With just the lightest touch, they cascade down, very literally covering us from head to toe in thousands of panicked, frantic spiders. We run out, and make a mad dash to the old millrace, leaping into the water, which was very cold. Got rid of the spiders though.

Not afraid of spiders, but that was a bit much. Just thought I'd share that with you arachnophobic folks, cause I'm nice like that. Sweet dreams!

Heh, amazing story. Cool dad, too :)

Well, don't worry. Unless your jumps can reach a speed of more than 10 meters/second, sustainted for quite some time (plus beating air friction), you won't be able to beat the laws of gravity.

BTW, if that's true, you've the same fear than most of the dwarves in Dragon Age :)

If anything the spiders they showed are too small. We need some Aragog or Shelob crap going on in TES.

Dude, mail him one of these:

I'm not usually creeped out by spiders but those camel spiders gave me the chills.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but today's GI hub update suggests that there will likely be spiders in Skyrim.

Bethesda is using [Havok Behavior] to create more nuance in character and creature movement, govern special effects, and even to control even how characters struggle to move when trapped in environmental hazards like spider webs.

You'll get dynamically stuck in spiderwebs in the game. Think of it as cognitive behavioral therapy. Bethesda will cure you of your phobias on each death from a spider.

Lol the 10 foot spider in the screenshot of the GI article didn't tip you off? Nor the first post of this thread that references it?

I think the best the op is going to be able to hope for is a mod if they play on pc that will replace the spiders with something else.

Now, due to people posting less than helpful comments and before the line is crossed far enough for warnings this can close.

Everyone who basically said "Tough luck, get out" and accusations of trolling should really review the forum rules.
