What are these game designers thinking?

Post » Thu Mar 24, 2011 6:30 pm

while true it's a good idea to explore you should only let it go a little bit until your sure just because it's different doesn't mean it's great, although Brink totally is,most publishers don't wanna risk it CoD has been a monster for ages now why change it just slip in small amounts of differences that way they have more chances too sell more games even though it's the same game with slightly better graphics ,Brink took a plunge and they'll likely be rewarded BIG or have a super sleeper hit either way i'm glad Brink is coming out atleast pt.1.

p.s. Homefront seems more like an old Xbox game called Freedom Fighters, google it, it's alot like that plot, with CoD looks.though i liked Freedom Fighters so maybe homefront will be awesomeness just like brink and CoD MW2 and lower after MW2 they just got boring.

Freedom fighters was also for ps2, and it wasnt cod style at all, but the plot is simalir to homefront, but in freedom fighters, the U.S.S.R invade usa. Unless im thinking of another game.

Why can't cod just come out with

Cod:Every war

Because that would be very long. And very good.
CoD: Zulu Wars. CoD: Rwandan Civil War. CoD: Operation Valkyrie
Yeeeeeeeessss.

If you think about it, Activision is a two-sided blade. On one hand, it seems like a spam fest (personally I only to run in the middle of Radiation, spin around and watch the lulzy kill cam) but its a spam fest we don't need to take part of. Just because there money [censored]s doesn't mean they help better games.. Think about this: Halo 3 was full of the biggest self-spoken MLG players. Then MW2 came out and a massive noob migration happened, ridding Halo3 of ten-year olds who scream out racial slurs and 20 year-olds with no life. Allowing Halo Reach to be directed to a more intelligent demographic. Meanwhile everyone on MW2 is nuke-boosting, taking the idiotic into one area. Black Ops was just a reskin with some minor updates.

In short) CoD svcks, but keeps noobs away from quality games like Brink and Tf2

^^ indeed.

Cant play a game of nazi zombies anymore (the whole reason i got blackops) without joining a game with a kid playing splitscreen then leaving, or a bunch of imbiciles ranting on about somone taking there kills yet no one is or saying (in game Dr richtofen ) sounds "gay" and everyone is a .

And once in awhile i get somone who is stoned and laughs uncontrolably when he fires his weapon. Its funny at times but he very useless.

Mabey YOU can, but you should see most people who freak out or laugh at everything a character says which makes me mute them.

"I need ammo! I cant wish zombies away!"
Thedudeguy425: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA-mute-

Edit: i dont like muteing because they may at one point say somthing that is important, such as theres a zombie behind me, and the name was made up. :D

I think the only thing tht ever made me laugh in a cod series (besides the typical [censored] or me laughing at noobs) was the line "planting claymore!" but that's only because of an inside joke ;). And yea... I agree... Most people that play cod are dimwitted mindless idiots... Although i'd rather talk to a [censored] than nobody at all...

Fair point but that is fictional, I like history. Have you ever seen a game about the Rwandan civil war or Operation Valkyrie? Could be cool. First mistake Homefront made was hiring John Milius, the ultrareaganist writer of some of the worst movies in the world.
You know Homefront is THQ published, not Activision, right?

Homefront .. is an exact copy and paste of Cod...

From the gameplay videos I saw I find it to be a really Half Life'd version of CoD, though.

The guy makes a fairly strong point that there is a perfect storm at the moment for creating actual creative games. Its an interesting watch.

Activision is in the [censored]ter so unless Infinity Ward gets the rights back to CoD it'll be on its way out soon enough.

You mean the team at IF right? Because activision flat out owned IF studios and once zampella and vince were fired 80% of the studio got up and left.I fear EA is the new activision these days or at least on par with its malpractices with games. Their online services are full of fail and they cut corners constantly.(dragon age 2) If EA was publishing this game they would have forced it out the door last year, and we would have had a half finished game. If there is an EA logo on the box expect a bad quality game.

Couldn't disagree more. EA was the villain in the game industry a few years ago until they changed and Activision took they're place. EA does take chances and innovate, especially with stuff like EA partners. I assume you're referring to their new online pass stuff in regards to the online. That only applies if you buy the game used and why should they cater to you if they don't see a cent of your purchase. Places like Gamestop are universally reviled among publishers and develops so don't be surprised if you see more companies starting that stuff in the future.

Mass Effect is more a testament to BioWare's skill despite being published by EA than a complement to EA. I have no doubt that the games you listed would fare better if published by a company more willing to support quality rather than concrete deadlines.

I have no doubts that you are correct, and if Bioware's products were published by a company such as you have described, I'm sure Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 would have been more of RPGs (and therefore better games) than the action games with RPG elements that they have transformed into. I was just offering a few key rebuttals the statement that "any game with an EA logo on the box it is poor quality."

Every game company has its own vices, I just prefer EA over Activision. Activision discontinued an entire line of games (Guitar Hero) to pursue the cash cow that is Call of Duty. And they only felt comfortable in doing that because they churned out 2-3 Guitar Hero games a year and oversaturated the market. I can only hope they make the same mistake with the Call of Duty franchise.

cod is the same fing things in each game ive always hated it maybe becuase i like games that are more about teamwork and are not boring as [censored] brink brings fresh ideads and a brand new type of gameplay to the table and becuase of this it will rise above the rest
