GECK not working

Post » Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:32 am

OS: Windows 7

My problem is when I start GECK it says:

The program can't start because libvorbisfile.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Well i tried reinstalling. I removed the program and installed it again, I chose the 'reinstall' option from the InstallWizard and it changed nothing. And as a result of this problem I can't download the update because a message comes back saying the old file doesn't exist.

Someone help.

It's missing the libvorbisfile because it looks in the exact same directory that the geck is intalled to to find it.. you need to reinstall the geck into your fallout 3 install folder.

Interesting,,, I have the same problem as Meganurd18,,, and I did as you have suggested Bonedog, BUT I still get the same error message. Lost count of how many times I uninstalled / installed . . . Then I found everything unpacked in my Fallout folder,, However I am unable too open or use it

thanks to NSIS.SF.NET/NSIS_ERROR . I keep getting the same ERROR message every time I try using 7zip too unzip mods I've down-loaded, so have been converting them straight to FOMOD. I am on the verge of kicking windows 7 out and going back to XP. I just want to PLAY MY GAME!.

Yea that sounds more like your computers messing up. And don't blame windows 7. I have had it for almost a year and have never had any issues with anything. (Other than what I have broken myself, then later fixed) Its almost always user error, or sometimes hardware incompatabilities.

Yes, Upgrading your PC to XP could be a good idea
You don't understand : With Windows the fun is not to actually play a game but to install it succesfully. Windows IS the game. You lost a game, then play again.

Not really. I have had Vista for several years now with less trouble than I ever had with XP.

The only issues with Win7 I have ever had were driver related, and that was due to my video capture card not having 64 bit drivers.

Windows 7 is so much better than XP to any power user. Its much more stable, much faster, and can use more than 3 GB of RAM, seeing how the 64 bit version of XP was a joke.

Oh, and I am only speaking for myself, but myself happens to be an IT professional in charge of over 6000 systems. I have to know a little bit about these things to do my job effectively.

Exactly. I have never really had any issues with Vista or 7. Provided you know what your doing and have a tad bit of computer knowledge you have no problem. If you know nothing about computers than yes windows is easy to mess up and then Mac's seem like god by comparison. But go mod FO3 on a mac then tell me what you think. >: D
