Notes Concerning PAX East Build

Oh yeah. I can understand why they delayed the release for a year - I just hope that it was worth it, because I desperately want BRINK to be the best shooter of the year.

You're supposedly supposed to pick your loadouts in the menus before the match starts, kind of like CoD's custom class feature but with guns only.
Then you select whichever weapon loadout you want for that specific moment by highlighting that part of the circle and hitting the activation key.

So in-game, by selecting the Weapons Select part of the wheel, you would get another wheel of all of the weapons available to you?

In regards to the gloves issue: Will other players be able to see these gloves, or does everybody run around bare-handed?

You probably could, but it would be a little difficult to tell who is what class.

exedore at the sd forums, in Cinna's competitive gamer concerns whatever thread

Welcome to the SD forums!

Just to comment on all the Operative angst, this is something specific to how we've been demoing the game... as we've said before, the Operative abilities are tactically the most advanced of all the classes, so we held back on most of them as it's hard enough for a lot of people to grasp the core gameplay in a short session. At low levels they are somewhat underpowered (intentionally), but at the high end they more than make up for it.

1) You lost me..

2) Wouldn't it be easier to see who's supposed to be what? Someone mentioned in a video something about each character having a class-specific backpack on, but maybe they could add noticeable gloves for when you're shooting someone from the front.

When you pick Weapons Select from the Command Post, what happens? Do they list you every gun you can use? If so, how are they arranged? In another wheel? Or in a list?

Hmm, correct. I believe I've heard the same thing before.

You build loadouts for each class I believe and can then select them from the wheel at the command posts. Going off the Container City video (which albeit is pretty old at this point) you could select a light, medium, heavy loadout

Where are you seeing Weapons Select? Which video?

I was under the impression that each weapon loadout had it's own specific part of the circle, no "Weapon Select" involved.

New PAX East videos. One of them had a person select the Command Post, and instead of having weapons selectable at the bottom half of the Command Post Wheel, it simply showed a Gerund logo and said "Weapon Select". The players never actually clicked on it, though.

Well then it would probably have shown the weapon loadouts after he clicked that, because it would take WAY too much time to go down a list of guns in-game - you'd likely be shot in the back of the head before you could make your mind up.

THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL.

Gotta say though, I'm not much a fan of all this glowing going on... especially on the weapon. Seems like it'd be incredibly distracting.

Yeah it definitely doesn't help with immersion.. although i can see its purpose in a game where every character looks so different

Kind of makes you wonder if that will be an option that you can tone down, or turn off completely. It would be interesting to be surprised on the buffs everybody was equipped with.

That stuff also makes it kind of hard to see what your opponents actually look like, doesn't it?

Perhaps it was only included in the conference build to make it easy for the people there to just jump right in and start killing? It's not in any of the other videos I've seen... Guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope it doesn't make it past the final cut

The glowing gun was also in the PAX 2010 build, so I doubt it's going to go away. I'm not quite certain of any other ways to denote that your gun is buffed.

I'd rather an on-screen icon rather than my gun glow like it's been dropped in a furnace...

But it flashes gold like the infamous insta kill golden gun form the early james bond games!

It's also an indication for enemies that they are dealing with a gun buffed player. These small things can mean the difference between running away and waiting for reinforcements or engaging and taking him out.

Double that of a standard magazine. In addition, your reserve munitions are also doubled.

Thirty, actually. Gameplay with the Rokstedi revealed it to have only fifteen shots. It also seems to be a semi-automatic now.

SEMI-AUTO ARs <3

Hope it is, then I won't have to use light rifles.

A Barrett will still do more damage per shot, though at the end of the day, if a Rokstedi can land at least two to three shots in the time it takes to lock and load the next bullet for a Barrett, it's going to be a pretty even match.
