The gaps of Oblivion's Engine

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 7:02 am

like the impossibility for a common mortal, to create credible&natural flying creatures (to fight)... BTW in Skyrim you'll fight non-scripted dragons, so that first gap is no more present. Bethesda, i hope the method you used for make dragons, is good for (self)make pigeons (to hunt LoL) also.

The another gap of Oblivion's Engine is the tricky-and-too-complex-near-to-impossible way for create pilotable and crew-able platforms: ships, carts, flying (dwemer?) ships.
If someone use a pilotable platform mod, or someone else has made mods like that, it understands what I mean to say (...even if my english is bad...)

Yeah, this is something that bothered me as well. It took years before anybody was able to come up with a way to make pilotable ship mods that actually worked decently. And still it's not as good as it could be.

I just find it kind of weird since so many other games have this feature.

Yeah, I know what your talking about. DL'ed a boat mod for Oblivion. When the damn thing wasn't colliding with rocks underwater, it was hard to control, and eventually, the game just CTD'ed whenever I tried to drive the boat.

Yep you have too right mate. And it will be thousand times more weird, if Skyrim's Engine will not "resolve" that thing....

...or save and reload while you drive the boat... gasp !

...and if you drive with a crew (your companions) aboard, the crew starting to have a strange behavior...

With this post that I have created, I don't want to offend any modder that it has tried to resolve this gap. In contrary case I ask excuse, my intention was another

I just hope it takes less time (or is in vanilla) for someone to implement "Immersive Interiors" where you can see out windows and see the day night cycle, ect.

We know interiors are still cells, but since this was done in an oblivion mod, you would think it is feasible on the new engine.

It would be nice to be able to see weather effects from inside, and for light/shadows to filter in from outside as well.

Hopefully TESVI next gen will have seamless loading( something near impossible on this gen hardware in this type of game) so we can just walk in and out of doors, see NPC's through windows, shoot arrows through windows, ect.
