I added up the cost of buying every map pack for Fallout 3; and it totals to (if you didn't buy the GotY edition typically at 60 bucks) then it would have cost you 100 dollars to get the game and all of the DLC's. The only way I can afford it is by me and all of my friends pitching in and buying a single copy of GotY. It came out as cheaper to do this than for each of us to buy the expansions seperately, and now we can't even do this, because each of us have split into different consoles. (1 has PC, 1 has PS3, and 2 have Xbox 360's) I don't want to sound like I'm whining, or that I'm targeting the makers of this game in particular, but come on, why has it become this great big thing all of a sudden to start making people pay extra every month for more content? Fable 3 is a prime example of this, game came out last week I believe, and they already have a 5 dollar expansion pack out, if you had the data ready, why not put it into the original release? I understood when games like starcraft did it, there was the game, and, a year or so later, there was the expansion (a single expansion mind you) that gave an entirely new campaign. I'm not stupid, and I know that the gaming industry has changed, but I would personally appreciate less expansions that you have to pay money for, and more updates that expand upon the game. I would rather have a game released later, and cost more, with more features and gameplay, than a game that it is simply expected of you to buy 4 or 5 expansions for, with each charging you 10 dollars, and hardly giving you more content. I play on the Xbox 360 and cannot afford the gold membership, nor do I feel comfortable giving my credit card number to Microsoft. I love this game, and enjoy the extra content, but cannot fully say that I will pay the extra money for it. I hate getting a game, only to find that a few weeks later it is outdated and I must pay more money to continue to enjoy it. For your fans, please, please, make this expansion worth the money, or better yet, follow the example of L4D, and offer it for free to PC and at a discount to the consoles. Oh yah, thats right, your forsaking your buyers from the PC and PS3. My bad.
I assure you all that I didn't mean this as a troll post, I didn't mean it as a post to make people angry, or one to get attention. I've been brooding over this for several months, and needed to get it off of my chest.
