What if Moneybookers ask for ID card?

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:58 pm

When I opened my moneybookers account I think I put a wrong birthday date. I've read that moneybookers might ask for ID card , and I'm worried that if they do, my account and money might be frozen  Does anybodyy know anything about this?

Is there no way to go into your profile to update it?

You also might want to try contacting them and seeing if there's anything they can do to change your birthday to the correct date if there is no way for you to do it yourself.

I highly doubt if it's just a simple error like this they'll freeze your account and money (unless you're not of age to their terms and conditions or something like that)

Nope, I can't update it on my profile :\

The problem is that when I opened the account with them I wasn't 18 yet (I'm 18 now though). There's a point in terms and conditions that says:

"4.2. You must be 18 years or older to use our services and by opening a Moneybookers Account you declare that you are 18 years or older. This does not apply to products for which we set a different age limit. We may require at any time that you provide evidence of your age."

I declared I was over 18 when I opened the account, but I wasn't.

Shouldn't have done that, now it's come to bite you in the ass.

Best I can say is contact them (don't give them your account information and use a different email if you had to give them one when you signed up) and ask them what would be the procedure if you wanted to change the birthday on your account. Tell them that you opened the account before you were 18 and ask if this will be a problem on the current status of your account (tell them you are 18 now).

Worst that can happen is they say that they'll freeze your account (but they won't be able to at the moment because you would not have given them your account info)

Best case scenario is they say it's ok and you can keep your account open but you are a very very bad person for not following the terms and conditions :P

Yea good idea, I'll do that. I think they won't answer that though, because if they ask me what's my account I can't say anything about it :| I think I'll tell them that my brother did this but I don't know his account and that I'm worried about the money. I hope it works

Anyway, thanks for the help :goodjob:
