If he is giving you the option of whether or not to take them, then I would say politely refuse, especially if you are experiencing some grief over potentially taking them.
However, if he is forcing them upon you, and you cannot convince him otherwise, then I do not see a problem with you taking them. I don't think that God is looking down at you and being angry for potentially accepting the charity of another. I think He wants us to be willing both to give and to receive (obviously a balance, since one should not live a life solely based around receiving).
You will not end up in hell for accepting an offer of a gift. Without getting too much into religious issues, I do not view one's salvation as determined by good deeds. One does not "earn" their way to heaven.
I will stress though, that even though your acceptance of this gift would not land you in hell, that if you feel bad about accepting them, then it would be best to save yourself the grief and at least view your own involvement as reward enough.
