I'm sure that this has been discussed before, but I found the search engine to be as useful as a calculator in an Italian bistro.

So I downloaded the free version of Daggerfall, after a nightmarish afternoon and a half, I got the game running. Spend about half an hour making the perfect custom character, get out there into the dungeon, I'm fighting the imp (which, by the way, my iron sword does sweet all's hell to), and I try to save. Boom, the game shuts down and I'm staring at my desktop.

Please, can someone help me to figure out how I can play my favorite childhood game?

Oh, I'm a huge fan of occasional crashes. Make the game what it is. This, however, crashes every time I try to save.

Try reinstalling it. Did you download the patch?

The DAG213 patch? That's the one that game with the download, and that's all I've installed so far. Is there another one I should try?

I'd still try a delete and reinstall. You never know what can go wrong during installation procedures.

Alright, I buckled down and reinstalled it. Now everything works great. So, thanks for telling me that my only option was that one thing that I really didn't want to do again.
