Progress won't initialize

Post » Wed Apr 06, 2011 7:39 pm

Have played for a while and had no prblems at all till now. I decided to start using Progress, made an omod with all the optional files but Slower levelling and activated it. Then used BOSS to sort all the files and rebuilt the Bashed patch (I've also got the latest OBSE). The problem is that when I start the game Progress does not initialize, neither with any kind of onscreen prompt nor if I check the console. Do you have any clue on what's happening? Here's my load order.

Even if the message doesn't appear anymore, shouldn't it, nonetheless, appear when opening the console?

Is the Progress book in your inventory?

Tejon, before he went on his extended "holiday" mentioned that he had inadvertently left the "Progress Initializing" message out of the latest version. The mod is fully functional, just the message that's missing. The readme is just wrong in this one instance.

No, it isn't. I had already checked for that and didn't find any. That's another reason why I'm worrying...

OH! Check the OBSE log. It should show up there, I believe.

Edit: The log file is in the Oblivion folder, and I think it is overwritten every session.

Progress is not a leveling mod. Realistic Leveling, nGCD and Oblivion XP are leveling mods. Progress handles skill gain rates. The message not appearing in the console is probably just a line of script or two that Tejon forgot to add. It does not affect the functionality of the mod.

Here's the last OBSE log:

OBSE: initialize (version = 18.5 010201A0)
oblivion root = C:\Programmi\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\
plugin directory = C:\Programmi\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\

plugin C:\Programmi\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\\OBSE_Elys_Uncapper.dll (00000001 OBSE_Elys_Uncapper 0000005E) loaded correctly
patched
DoLoadGameHook: D:\Documenti\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\quicksave.ess
loading from D:\Documenti\My Games\Oblivion\Saves\quicksave.obse
Loading strings
Loading array variables
OBSE: deinitialize

No sign of Progress whatsoever... is there any other way to check whether it's active or not?

BTW, when I last built the bashed patch I received this error message: can it have anything to do with this issue?

Yeah, it's easy; open the Progress ini and change a skill (Armorer is what I use), to some absurdly high number, like 100.00, and then load your game, find a damaged piece of gear, and give it a whack. If your progression skyrockets up with one swing, the mod is working. Just make sure not to take any actions or open any menus or anything --don't even walk-- for about 20 seconds after loading a game (more time than needed quite likely, but better safe than wonky). This will make sure that all your scripts are properly initialized and Progress' progression rates won't get all borked.

Also, the book I thought came from Progress comes from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19245 though the book is named Progress. Turns out I forgot to install LA when I reinstalled Oblivion last. Woops.

No, the Wrye Bash error is people having trouble with eye-adding mods. I can rebuild my bashed patch with 280 (using RBP) so I assume it happens when multiple mods are adding eyes. Is that the case for you? (Look at the Race Records section of the bashed patch.)

Thanks, I'll try and do that as soon as I'm back home and I'll let you know!

THere were some lines I couldn't understand, so I posted them. I have to check Race Records to see what's the problem. Thanks

Oh, I use Legendary Abilities too. What an unfortunate coincidence, passing out wrong information. Progress works, no worries.
