How many of you are on the PC that plan to play Brink? Seems like most of these threads are console players, and im starting to worry about how the game will be for PC.

Anyways, PC Brink discussion. I havent been keeping up that much on the features for PC, but will there be Dedicated Servers and a map editor of some sort? Im sick of all companies making the console version better for the money and shunning the PC version

I'm considering getting the PC version... and I'm not so sure about the extra features. I believe there will be dedicated servers but don't hold me to it.

Yes, the console versions of games these days are a lot better then their PC counterparts, what with their superior graphics, controls, SDK toolkits, free DLC, constant updates and support from the developers, and the ability to use tons of mods, not to mention that console games are a lot cheaper then PC games these days.

Oh wait...

Slash Damage is mainly a PC development crew, seeing their Enemy Territory history. However, the same have been said about Bad Company 2, an awful PC port considering how the option menus are always screwed up, requiring self-fixes, there is no in-game voice chat (that I know of), and maps are tuned to 24 players when the max PC player count is 32. The only thing that is really saving it from a nail in the coffin is that Bad Company is a console spinoff and was, unfortunately, was trying to compete with COD, also now a console game. (God, I use Bad Company for so many examples. Maybe because it PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH)

There are dedicated servers, the PC will be the dominant version it because Peer to Peer tends to svck when it is done by anyone besides Bungie (keep your fingers crossed console gamers, I have nothing against you having a good experience). Also, I know for a fact that I couldn't translate my TF2 scout skills onto console, and I plan to be a Scout in this game too. Even though soft aim, its really vital for me to have total control.

Map editing is unknown.

What i mean is that most developers will create the game for consoles, and port it to PC. And usually, the game is crap and has no support.

And yet somehow they're still usually the best version to get.

I got a copy on PC mainly for the fact that me and my roommates intend to do a lot of mapping/modding for this game. Hopefully they don't take forever to put out the SDK though.

SD is a pc developer primarily. and they are rather knowledgeable about very specific technical aspects of their game (they being the devs that post on the SD forums).

also currently it seems the bethesda forums have a population that is primarily that of console players. where as the SD forums has a much larger PC player population. if you wish to go there and view said stuff the SD forums are located here: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17

I pre-ordered Brink last week off of Steam, this is probably going to be the only game I play until I get shipped off to basic.

Definitely getting this for PC. Spent three years of my life playing W:ET with my brother and our two buddies and I intend to do the same with Brink.

Ewwwww Sports.

But all my weak scrawniness aside, I think a lot of people misjudge how expensive a gaming computer is. I built a top of the line one for $750. You could just buy a good $400-$500 Desktop and add a $50-$70 graphics card from Tiger Direct, New Egg, or (you're really lucky if you have one of these) Micro Center. Boom, a computer and a gaming system for a 100 dollars more than a system on a release day.

Ewwwww Sports.

Not that March Madness! It's March Madness on the Escapist. I'm 4th right now, but round 2 is coming up soon. Hopefully I'm in with a chance! No connection to basketball.

That thing actually made me cringe a lot. First off, there were a lot of things that were unfairly put up against others and I either had to choose the one that was going to win vs the one I actually like better. And there were others were I like both studios are pretty good and I hate to choose one over the other and have one eliminated at round 1. A pity, isn't it?

Edit: I just looked at the results. WTF?

I love Minecraft, but Nintendo made me happy ever since I was 6. The business model may be messed up in comparison, but the game design is always fantastic. As for Obsidian, I felt they always made good worthy sequels and they made a better, more Fallout-y game, Media Molecule was just too influential as a developer with all the crossovers, community reliance, and attention to charm. Also, they actually have a Q&A team (I'm joking).
