GECK, nifskope. i could use a hand..

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:59 pm

so i need a hand loading an item from nifskope to my fallout 3 directory.. this isnt my item.. it is someone elses but they didnt put it in right..

basically i read his instructions and i didnt understand a word of it..

here they are:
open up nifskope got the nif and open file

find the BSShadertexture and expand.

There you will find the paths of textures.

double click on the path name not the purplish gear on the far left.

This will allow you to change the path.

delete everything to the left of textures.

im guessing that that is very simple to do.. but i cannot get it.. i have never used nifskope or anything like it.. i have allways used vanilla content

thanks

Yeah, those instructions will work.

But without knowing what the object is, I could not tell you more on finding the texture path.

A picture is sometimes worth a million words:

Try selecting, "File" then "Resource files" and make sure Automatic detection is checked. I had a similar issue with the Nifskope side of this at one point, and found that re-installing Nifskope forced it to auto-recognize the file pathes. Once Nifskope does that right, your texture paths will all start with "data\xxxx\" and everything should work good. If you install Nifskope Then re-install Fo3, I found that Nifskope ran into issues when it didn't know the right file paths for Fo3. Try playing with the Resource Files, and if that fails just un-install and re-install Nifskope - takes about 5 minutes and should do the job.

As to why the textures are not showing up in-game is probably because the file paths in the Nif are wrong, correcting it with Nifskope should solve the problem.

Luck,
