I hate K/D counts for non-deathmatch gametypes. They are very dissuading.
Personally, I would not like K/Ds in your face status, hidden from everyone else. Even more important is that I hope that deaths only count when you respawn in wave rather than get revived. Why be punished for playing together (There are benefits of lone wolfing like not being easily spotted)?
Battlefield Bad Company 2 (I'm unsure about the BF predecessors did this too) made sure every kill had a death to it, which means they took the obvious route rather having medics take away everyone's kills. The worst case was I had medics reviving me in the middle of a battlefield, only to get killed instantly giving me 2 deaths. (Brink was really smart on countering this). I say, however, why do you need this corresponding? First off, with the inclusions of suicides and FF, there are some deaths with no kills to them. Secondly, K/Ds will not encourage smart gameplay, if people see reviving as a bad thing.
My main passion against K/Ds is because I had a gloating friend, who criticized my K/D heavily after comparing it to his. I felt that the PC version had more professionals than the Xbox version, which he was on, but he wouldn't believe me. So, I stopped being a team player and started getting aggressive. In the end, I got a healthy K/D and I became a better marksman but a worse teammate.
