K/D ratios!

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 7:59 am

I have'nt been on this forum for a while so i don't know if this was asked before, but is this game gonna include k/d ratios?I heard there was'nt gonna be any k/d,and that sounds good.I think it ruins the fun factor in a game for most people, including me.Don't get me wrong, my k/d is decent in most games but i find myself obsessing over it to the point were it gets frustrating.

They made sure that the emphasis during Brink would not be on a single person's K/D, but on working as a team and advancing. So I highly doubt it will include you're K/D ratio. and besides, it's easy to do some quick math and figure it out. And I agree. That's a good thing.

I've heard definitely not. I hope they include some kind of statistics though, like W/L ratio, maybe something like BC2 did, with medals being awarded for doing certain things

If I remember correctly there is a K/D counter but no leaderboard to gloat on so it's for your interest only.

in BFBC2, they did show your K:D ratio but the games were either too many good or too many bad players and they many good Apache pilots. it got to the point the only time i ever obsessed over my K:D was in BF2/BF2142 and BFBC2:Vietnam, which had more balance than BFBC2.

There is a K/D counter each game you play, but no persistent stats. Or, at least no visible persistent stats on your end, I have heard some people claim (on the SD forums) that it should be possible for servers to choose to keep track of it.

I hate K/D counts for non-deathmatch gametypes. They are very dissuading.

Personally, I would not like K/Ds in your face status, hidden from everyone else. Even more important is that I hope that deaths only count when you respawn in wave rather than get revived. Why be punished for playing together (There are benefits of lone wolfing like not being easily spotted)?

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (I'm unsure about the BF predecessors did this too) made sure every kill had a death to it, which means they took the obvious route rather having medics take away everyone's kills. The worst case was I had medics reviving me in the middle of a battlefield, only to get killed instantly giving me 2 deaths. (Brink was really smart on countering this). I say, however, why do you need this corresponding? First off, with the inclusions of suicides and FF, there are some deaths with no kills to them. Secondly, K/Ds will not encourage smart gameplay, if people see reviving as a bad thing.

My main passion against K/Ds is because I had a gloating friend, who criticized my K/D heavily after comparing it to his. I felt that the PC version had more professionals than the Xbox version, which he was on, but he wouldn't believe me. So, I stopped being a team player and started getting aggressive. In the end, I got a healthy K/D and I became a better marksman but a worse teammate.

MAG is a tactical objective-based game, but it throws everybody's KDRs out in the open, and as a result there's a division - particularly on the forums, where some elitists will disregard, or even show hostility, towards players with a KDR lower than 2.0. I didn't fall into that group but I saw a lot of it happening, in-game and on the forums, and it was pretty sad. It's so bad that members of some elite clans will stop playing to win the game for the team, and just kill farm to make sure they get their Grim Reaper ribbon (35 kills) every match, and if they aren't then it's not uncommon for them to leave.

Thank god KDR won't be there in Brink, or at least easy to find. Eliminates that whole "pro" [censored] [censored] element.

No persistent stats. And I'm glad. I'm really, really tired of people using the Ratio Card to belittle my performance in shooters.

Who wants to turn a fun game focusing on fun into a chore focusing on making some numbers go up and some numbers go down?

The developers said Win loss would not be in as well because it could make people change teams in the game so they get a win rather than a loss. From what I have heard the only leaderboards will be the ones for the challenges. Which is fine by me really, I never cared about leaderboards. Nobody gives a rats behind how you do unless your in a clan maybe.

If I remember correctly there is a K/D counter but no leaderboard to gloat on so it's for your interest only.

The leaderboard for each game you play goes something like this:
Player Name --- XP - Kills - Assists - Deaths - Objectives - Ping

If I'm not mistaken.

The amount of XP you collect defines your position on the board.

Now a kill gives you about 75XP for a medium player, from what I've heard.
However, healing/buffing a player gives you 100XP already.

Why do you need a k/d for an objective game? Reminds me of the people who go into Domination on COD just to kill people.......

That and sniper classes. The great thing about this game is it's not big on neither.I got that game HOMRFRONT and i'm gonna trade it towards this after i play the campain. The mulyiplayer could be great but it already turned into a snipe fest with k/d ratios to go with it.Brink is sounding more and more like my dream game.

hahaha oh. well I know a few of them and play with them. They all get way mad whenever their k/d drops under a 2 or something. It's really funny watching these people get sooo upset even though they are still winning by a crap-load.
