What is a good facial mod

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:12 pm

I upgraded the textures in the game with a high-res pack and now want to get the facial detail cleaner. I don't want to change the faces, just get them more detailed and sharper. I aee various mods to do this, but don't know which ones work the best and are the least likely to cause problems. Ideally, I want to install one mod that does all of the races at once. Ease of installation is a factor for me, as I figure that it makes it less likely to cause problems.

I would also like something that I can undo without too much hassle if the results are not optimal or I encounter bugs.

So, what do all the gurus of Oblivion modding favor for faces?

Oh, I must also say that the high-res pack makes the game look stunning. It is amazing to me just how beautiful a game from 2006 looks. I am replaying it with an ATI 5970 card and it is breathtaking to view at times.

If you are just looking for increased resolution, then http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5643, and http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6611, both by Shady Tradesman, will do the trick.

A lot of people then install a more stylized texture on top of that mod for more visual enhancement- popular choices being Enayla's, Navetsea's (by far my favorite), Danis13, and Ozmo.

But definitely start by increasing the resolution with IFT, since it covers all the races. Maboroshi Daikon's Natural Faces also increases the resolution of most of the vanilla races, but as far as I know doesn't cover Khajiit or Argonians.

If you want to play female characters: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29103

If you want Vanilla races to have pretty faces: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14805 + http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5643 + http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6611
>> note: I did not completely read your post at first. The above mods change faces.

If you install Eve, Exnem or HGEC (which are basically variations of a similar body mod) there are High Rez skin textures available for the vanilla races. I cannot link the skin texture packs for these mods, but they are pretty easy to find. Search "High Rez," "High res," "EVE," etc. on TESNexus.

Edit: Many people use the age textures from IFT and use other mods for the face textures. One more: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14839

Wihtout hijacking, can I ask if there's a mod that makes the people of Cyrodiil look somewhat human? Facially speaking?

I installed both the Improved Facial Textures and the version of it for the Argonians. The difference is striking and I am pleased with the results. It makes the game look a couple of years newer.

Thanks for the replies!
