Where do you think the DLC will go?

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:09 pm

I'm too scared to say what I think will be a DLC.. because then it could be cut from the main game to sell for more $$ later.
Since we have't had confirmation of it in the main game yet, they probably already have it in mind though. :(

I'd prefer an expansion but it doesn't look like we'll get one juduging by Fallout 3. :glare:

Really? I don't remember having read anything like that. Well if that is true then it's just sad... really really sad. Oh well i have to try to look at the bright side. Atleast i don't have to buy anything but the game itself.

I think things like Knights of the Nine, The Pit, Operation Anchorage etc. where great little chucks of entertaining content well worth the moneys worth. It makes the most financial sense from both consumer and developer points of view. Not too many resources wasted on a large in depth time consuming, man power consuming chunk of content that will probably not sell well enough to recoup cost or make it worth the delay of your next project. But the consumer still gets nice little additions that take a few hours of gameplay and are inexpensive. Expansion packs have died this generation with only a few exceptions.

I loved Shivering Isles. Much more so than the main quest in the base game. I loved the lay of the land too. But I much prefer this new direction they are taking. I don't get large areas of land that noticeably haven't had as much detail or effort as the main game. I get new content fast and steady, plus whatever Bethesda's next project is comes sooner.

THIS!

I assume that expansions fall within DLC. I think that smaller expansions like they did for Fallout worked for Fallout, but I don't think it would work for Elder Scrolls. Different gameplay, different world, different content.

I assume we'll have little packets of DLC like the usual fortress/short questlines stuff but it's hard to speculate on those. I think we are just discussing the big stuff here.

My guesses, released in this order:
-Mini downloads for seeing your own cleavage, horse rabies, swords of stinking breath, etc.

-Small packs: Mage's Tower, Warrior's Cave, Assassin's Lighthouse, etc...

-Shorter Questlines: Reforming the Blades, Campaign to Become King of Skyrim, Claiming the Throne in the Imperial City as Dragonborn

-Big Expansion:
Roscrea - The Akaviri plan to invade Tamriel, and they have seized Roscrea. Roscrea's lack of protection from the Empire leads them to submit and allow Akavir to use Roscrea as a staging ground for their invasion in exchange for protection. As the Dragonborn, King of Skyrim, you go on a dangerous mission with a few close allies and a few of the only Blades in a mission that goes above politics, factions, and allegiance to the Empire. No matter what side you are on, you must cooperate with the only ones aware of the Akavir plot in order to protect your homeland. You must ferment opposition in Roscrea, gather a resistance, and dismantle Akavir's invasion before it can begin.

-Sequel:
The Elder Scrolls VI: Akavir - Take it to those Akavir fools.

Thank you for the link.

One of the problems i have with DLC, even the larger ones, is that they only add a few hours of new gameplay. It takes more than that to pull me back to a game i maybe stopped playing months ago. It's simply not enough to arouse my interest again. This is one of the reasons that i rarely buy DLC.

Realistically, stuff like (the mods) Malevolent or the Imperial Council.
Hopefully, Blacklight area, territories gained during the Bend'r-Mahk (if not already included) like Dragonstar.
