Favourite Major DLC/Expansion? - and suggestions for new one

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:16 am

Hard for me to choose between Bloodmoon and Shivering Isles. I feel like I got more out of SI, but BM was slightly more enjoyable.

As for future expansions, there is one concept which, if one with proper care and sensitivity to lore, could be interesting. It would be some sort of expedition/quest to find the remains of the ancient Falmer society. There are a lot of ways such an expansion could go (possibly discovering the ruins of an ancient society, new armor/weapons/spells, surviving Falmer living in isolation, possibly even unlocking the Falmer as a playable race -- this in particular would have to be done with extreme care). One relic that should be the centerpiece would be the Spear of the Snow Prince, which would be found in his tomb along with various other artefacts and treasure.

Wow, never thought of anything like this before. Perhaps you could be sent by ship to a romote part of Solsthiem, discover a cave with ruins and Falmer etc etc. They could really make a great DLC with this if it is done carefully as you suggest and they could also give the underground where the Falmer live a good atmosphere like Shivering Isles' (jumping to conclucions a little bit, don't know if they would be underground but considering they have never been seen on the surface that's where my guess puts them). :P

overall though, another good idea!

shivering isles was great. new alien land, new quests, new lore. honestly i've never explored it too much, just plowed through the quests, but i thought the landscape was stunning. guess i just got bored of dungeon diving by the time i got around to buying it

I voted Tribunal. To me it added something different, yet the perfect distraction to the huge open world of Morrowind. The in closed (yet huge) city of Tribunal worked perfectly for me.

I love them all, some more than others, but it would be hard for me to choose a favorite.

Although there is one that I don't like. (I'm looking at you, horse armour)

Falmer. meh. They've had their five minutes.

TES V: Skyrim needs this:

Skyrim: The Atmoran Expedition.

What could be more interesting than exploring an entirely new landmass far to the norht of Skyrim, with limited supplies and only occasional chances to return to Tamriel?
Not only would you need to be in the right place at the right time to catch a ship (but at least you'd get a 24-hour window for this), but you could "carry" all the loot you want back with you (shipping crates). That is, of course, if the harsh, windswept coast has any loot to speak of. Of course, you might eventually find life away from the expedition's camp and be able to trade... or not.

Isn't Atmora a frozen rock? That's little too much like Solstheim and, to a lesser degree(not saying Skyrim is a frozen rock, but it does have its cold, frozen parts), Skyrim, in my opinion. I like the contrasts Bethesda has provived with Vvardenfell/Solstheim and Cyrodiil/Shivering Isles. I believe TES V and at least its first expansion(just in case Bethesda doesn't make a second, and this is assuming Bethesda will make any at all) should contrast greatly in their settings, following past traditions.

The correct answer is "we don't know for sure!". It is true that modern expeditions have turned up little more than winter, but... isn't that exactly what would be novel about what I suggested? You're supposed to find what the others didn't... or possibly the reason for the killing frost.

Just saying... I'd rather a different style of quest than a different visual style.

If Skyrim is as cold and harsh as it is, don't you think an island even further north would be worse? Think about it.

not necessarily. Part of the cold in Skyrim is altitude. Also, places in Europe of a more northern latitude are often warmer than here, while environments to the west are colder. Large bodies of water do funny things to the weather, and that's just what anyone can see on a map...

I taken a bit liken to Shivering Isles, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon for each of their own reason. If ever an Expansion exist for assuming Skyrim as the next location of TES V, I say we visit Orsinium, as it is relatively close to Skyrim and I would like to know what is going on there.

Think just how north it is though. If it's hardly ever known about, and not even acknowledged in maps, it isn't going to exactly be a few miles away from Skyrim. It's ridiculously far away.

Besides, I'm not against having a harsh cold icey wasteland for an expansion. It could work quite well.

All DLC has had a great amount of wonder to it. I cannot really pick, though I can play favorites with my games.
