Local Map issue

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:33 pm

Okay, I have searched the forums to no avail concerning this. I am the type of person that likes to find everything in a game, including exploring the entire Local Map. However, i have noticed that sometimes parts of the local map will blank out, even after i have explored the area. An example is in Megaton, i have explored the whole town, but then i will go look at the Local Map, and there will be a big hole in the map as if I have never explored the area. Its very frustrating for an OCD player such as me. Any fix for this or is it how Bethesda planned it (such as a Pipboy issue)?

I think that's just how the map works, only a small area surrounding you is clear. (like doors that are far away don't show up on your map)
Maybe it's a line of sight thing, dunno

Hehe. I think maybe, if it is an intended thing by Bethesda, that it could be radiation interference? I haven't looked deep into it yet, but it could be happening only in areas around spots with radiation, i.e. pools of water, the bomb in Megaton, etc. As of now, I dunno.

It's happened to me too when revisiting areas (Xbox 360). I think it's just a bug as the game has to store the fog-of-wars in some form of textures in the save file, and the best explanation I can think of is that they get reset by certain quests. It makes sense when an area changes appearance during a quest though.
