Picking Up Fallout 3 GOTY Edition

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:03 pm

My brother owns both copies of Fallout:New Vegas and Fallout 3. I was playing New Vegas. But due to its countless bugs wrecking my game, I decided to start Fallout 3-GOTY Edition. I'm enjoying it so far, but maybe not as much as New Vegas. In some ways, it is better than New Vegas and, in other ways, worse.

  • From what I've played of the game, it seems easier to level up in New Vegas. I might be wrong though.
  • I hate how you can only choose a perk every other level now in New Vegas.
  • The actual skills to upgrade are much better in New Vegas. Survival is nice and so is the merging of big guns and small guns.
  • With all the addons already out and installed on my Xbox, Fallout 3 seems like a bigger adventure.
  • Fallout 3 is less buggy than Fallout:New Vegas.

The perks in FO3 do get better, and more varied, as you get further in the game.
It is a bit harder to level up at the start of the game, but that makes it more rewarding. Leveling too fast is boring.

I like the NV every other level perk system. By level 20 in FO3, there is not a single thing that you cannot kill easily due to the constant stream of perks you are recieving. (Im only about level 12 in NV, so im not sure if its the same way, being overpowered at high levels).
