This makes no sense. I have an "Asus M4N68T Pro" motherboard, a Gigabyte Sumo 5115 case and a Nvidia GTX 465.

Now I can plug the mobo into the case just fine, but when I try and put the GPU in, it simply does't fit. It doesn't line up. It's too big.

Can somebody with more knowledge than me tell me if this should work or not. If it should then I'll just try harder, but if I know it shouldn't then I'll need to find a different solution.

EDIT (more detail): When I put the GPU into the mobo, the part where it should be screwed into hits the case before the GPU is properly plugged into the mobo.

So the mobo is too deep in the case? By how much?

That is a full tower case, there is no reason it shouldn't fit.

Sometimes these things take a bit of finesse.

I had trouble getting my 5870 to line up the other day, after having removed and replaced it several times before without issue.

Any chance you can take a picture, with you holding it in the position you write of? I am a bit confused as to which part hits first. Back to front, or from side to side?

A few centimetres. I got it to line up with a bit of cardboard but it's hardly a permanent solution. Maybe I just used the wrong screws or something stupidly trivial like that.

EDIT: I'll take a pic next time I try it, but I'm in the middle of mock exams and I need my PC for leisure so I don't want to disassemble it right now (I keep the GTX 465 in this PC). I just wanted to make sure now so I could return the case if need be.

I had a Coolermaster case with a similar issue. The bracket of the GPU was too short to allow it to fully seat in the motherboard - the add-in card frame on the case was too tall. I tested it with several video cards and they all had the same issue. Not to mention the screw holes for the motherboard were slightly off making it very difficult to install (but I eventually did it). In my mind I feel the case was defective, but it would have been too expensive to return it to Newegg. I ended up using a Dremel to shave off the add-in card frame enough for the GPU to fit all the way down.

UPDATES:

Just tested it with my old Geforce 8800GTS and it fits fine. Now why does the GTX 465 not want to work?

I'm really a visual kinda person. I'd really like to see a picture so I can make a better judgment.

If one card fits, it's not the case, or a misaligned mobo.

So yeah, if you can attempt to put it in, right up until it stops, then snap a pic, I'd really appreciate it. Maybe use Paint or some such to point to the contact areas that are holding you back.

I really think with a bit of finesse, not force, you'll get it to work.

Oh yeah, looking top down on the GPU, does it all look square? Or does the back bracket look "male rooster"-eyed?

Dunno what you mean by "male-rooster-eyed" but I'll be sure to take plenty of pics this Wednesday.

The word for a "male rooster" is censored, because some use it in an insulting manner when paired with a second word. (I however did not.)

Yeah ok, I got it all to fit and all worked fine. I got a BSOD when I started it up the first time but I've fixed that now. TY.
