Required installation order for FOIP?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 6:07 am

I'm starting a new game and I wanted to install FOIP w/ addons (FWE, MMM, WMK, PB, EVE, and if possible FOOK2). Is there a required installation order for all of these mods; or is it only the load order that counts? I just wanted to make sure so I don't fubar my clean install of FO3+DLC. Thanks for any help!

Well, just a heads up, but currently Project Beauty is incompatible with FOOK2. I don't know if it changed but I'm pretty sure. Even with FOIP, and if you're using the new FOOK2 1.1 beta, it is incompatible with FOIP, the FWE-FOOK2 merger, and and anything made for FOOK2 1.0.

Use BOSS to get a load order also. It should have all of the popular mods included, so it will know where those go. It also gives some notes on what you'd need to make certain mods work. I don't know what FOIP stands for (lol) , but i'm currently using FWE, MMM, PB and EVE in my current game. BOSS knows what order to put these in at least. Hope this helps some.

Edit: Another thing. I don't bel;ieve those particular ones need to be installed in certain order. But personally I would install any mods that change the game play itself (like FWE or FOOK2). Then install anything that adds creatures, monsters, items, etc., followed by PB or mods that retexture things.

FOIP stands for Fallout Interoperability Program. It's to help integrate mods like Weapon Mod Kits and FOOK2 together.

Ahh. I'm playing my first game, but i'm not using that or FOOK. I keep looking at all these new mods while i'm playing, I need to finish this one so I can use other mods in the next one.

Well I'll probably wait a little while to see if they can make PB/FOOK2 1.1 compatible; but it sounds like the install order is pretty straight forward. Thanks for the info everyone!

Also, do you think I should just go ahead and install FOOK2 1.0; or should I wait for a working 1.1 merger if it's going to bring a lot more improvements over the previous ver.?

There isn't a working FOIP or other compatiblity patch for FWE 5.0 + FOOK2 v1.0 either . . . so you really can't use FWE + FOOK without some inevitable problems. People seem to run them all the time anyway with out-of-date merger files. Personally, I'd never do it because it's going to result in essentially a random game experience with very inconsistent spawns + leveled items, inconsistent weapon balance, etc...

Sorry for such a long load order...but I just want to be sure that I don't have any duplicates/out of order mods. I've only played ~30 minutes so there could still be issues down the road; but for now it seems to be working great. Any input is greatly appreciated!

[X] Realistic Interior Lighting.esp
[X] Realistic Interior Lighting - OA.esp
[X] Realistic Interior Lighting - BS.esp

This has a couple of issues with FWE, see FWE thread.

[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - No Ghoul Raise.esp
[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Feral Ghoul Rampage.esp
[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.esp
[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Reduced Wasteland Spawns.esp

Pretty sure all these are integrated/controllable through FWE in-game menu, so you don't need them.

[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - XFO.esp

Why do you have this? You don't have XFO.

[X] VATS Normal Weapon Degradation.esp

This is controllable through FWE, don't need it.

[X] FPS Grenade Hotkey.esp
[X] FPS Grenade Hotkey - Zeta addon.esp

These are already integrated into FWE.

Right on, thanks for the input! Ya I figured I probably had some dupes after looking at a computer screen for many hours, and reading 20 different readme.txt's that say different things (or have different ways of saying the same things lol).

With the Realistic Interior Lighting; I found this posted by Mez:
Also, I've found the lighting mods to make a HUGE difference in playing stealth characters. I'm using the realistic interior lighting mods along with dynamic weather (has darker nights be defauly) + streetlight mods. In interiors, there are a lot more dark / pitch black corners to hide in, which is great because enemies switch into alert state and come hunting for you, but there's a good chance of actually getting hidden again since the enemies don't switch into combat mode as quickly.

So it looks like it will work and add to the gameplay...unless I'm mistaken...

As for XFO, I thought it was included with FWE? It has it listed in the "integrated mods" section in the FWE thread...do I still not need the .esp to make it compatible with MMM?

True, but take note of the following:

I'm pretty sure that patch is if you're using the standalone XFO mod with MMM (ie. not using FWE). But you should post in the FWE thread to confirm.

Ah, I see...missed that page lol. I'll probably leave it in and when I finally get to those areas I'll disable it.

I'll check the readme for FWE/MMM and see if they have any specifics about that XFO .esp

You definitely don't need the MMM-XFO.esp with FWE. That file is for use only if you use the standalone version of XFO.
But by all means, feel free to check the readme and the FWE thread. :)

Edit: Also, order your ESMs like this (BOSS flips them around for some reason):

Fallout3
Anchorage
ThePitt
BrokenSteel
PointLookout
Zeta

Alright just an update, I've been playing for several hours and so far it seems pretty stable. I noticed some of the spawn points are kinda flaky; and sometimes cause issues (mainly me dying lol). Sometimes in the Wasteland I'll wander up on some enemies, so I hit the quicksave button before the battle. It usually takes me a couple tries to win; but sometimes when I reload the save there will be more enemies then when I saved the first time. Had this happen with some Super Mutants...I found two hanging around an old truck, so I saved before they were aware then attacked. Well I died, so I loaded the quicksave and all of the sudden there was 5 or 6 that spawned around me and there was no escape. I ended up having to load another save because there was no way I could survive. Is this just part of the deal with such a heavily moded game; or is there something conflicting with my spawnpoints/scripts?

I'm also getting some MAJOR stuttering after ~2hours of play. The game runs silky smooth but then my page file starts caching like crazy and I'll get 6-8 second pauses while my HDD is thrashing, making it impossible to play. I am using NMC's complete texture pack and modified .ini files; but I was using these with a previous install and I never had it this bad; the only thing I've changed since then is that I went from XP 32bit to Win7 64bit. I'm also using the RAM "fix" (editing the .exe so it's Large Address Aware). I haven't tried going back to the default settings so I'll give that a shot; but this just seems "different" than the usual stutters I've gotten.

Again thanks for the help! And the modded game is AMAZING! It's like a whole new game almost; where I actually have to survive now, not run around and blast everything like with vanilla lol
