Problem with Fallout 3 GOTY Disc

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:48 am

First thing: sorry for any mistakes. English isn't my native language.

Second thing: The Problem. About 8-9 month ago I bought Fallout 3 GOTY from Amazon. I've installed it, played it, finished it and put DVD-Box on shelf. Now, after finishing New Vegas, I want to play Fallout 3 again. BUT. Without any visible reason, my DVD drive can't read the damn thing. I'm sure that everything is O.K. with my drive - it reads normal any other CDs/DVDs. I've checked the Fallout 3 disc on other drive and it doesn't work on it either. The disc isn't scratched or damaged. About half year I didn't even touch the DVD-Box. And now I don't know what to do. I can't return disk, because I live on other side of the Atlantic ocean. Obviously, something wrong with disc and because there is a stupid protection system I can't play the game. I should of bought Steam version. This is why I prefer Steam. Damn it. So, what should I do? Beside throwing disc into my window and downloading the game from the Internet.

I have the same problem with my disks. It is a couple months old, never installed. Tried to install the other day and couldn't get windows to read the disk......took a good look at the disk and it appears as though the disk is bad (you can see that the disk was not "pressed correctly), and is unreadable.

If the game is still installed on the machine, then you could just use http://fose.silverlock.org/ to launch it. It bypasses the disk check and allows for mods to be run.
