I've been attempting to get the DTC disk to properly install and run, with no luck. Game worked perfectly when just basic game was loaded, after I modified fallout.ini to use only 2 core processors.

I have fought through the inability for the DTC disk to properly read. Got it to install once by waiting, but when game continued to crash upon starting, I uninstalled and reinstalled using safe mode. Game still crashes w/ DTC disk. Attempted to update to 1.7 (thought I might need to run each patch sequentially, but appears only 1.7 is available on your page, so I'm assuming that 1.7 includes all previous patch work. Patch downloaded and ran, but at the very end up popped the same "Fallout 3 as stopped working" w/ computer freeze. I can get out of the freeze by cntrl-alt-del to the 'task manager', which allows me to get the mouse back up and choose 'close program' at least. I note that the patch apparently isn't installing, because in "unstall programs" list the version of Fallout 3 is listed as 1.0.00000 . This is getting extremely frustrating... I note that there are literally hundreds of people w/ the same or similar problems as well, given that I've attempted to research fixes on my own before this posting. requesting your assistance now...

Burn-In/Benchmarks

The latest patch is included in the installation when you install the second disk. As to the crashing, did you try deleting the .ini file and then trying to get the game to load?

Post a dxdiag.

To reiterate, game plays fine when it's just the basic game, but once the DLC disk is installed it crashes to "Fallout 3 has stopped working". thoughts, anyone, anyone at all?

This is a bit high, it should be at about 1GB for Windows 7. I would recommend closing some unneeded programs. And you may want to update GPU drivers.

Also I see you have dual GPUs in Crossfire. Have you tried to disable one and then run the game. Many people had some problems when running this game in Crossfire.

No help I'm afraid. I run very little actually in terms of programs in the background. Just what came w/ the Alienware computer at start. Took a look at start up and killed a couple of things, but according to various start up websites, the rest of my programs are 'required'. I'd guess the reason the dxdiag showed a bit high is that I ran it while a window or three of internet explorer was open (including the page where you explained how to run it...) My GPU drivers are up to date. Disabling one of the GPUs just eliminated the ability to go dual screen, killed my resolution and screen clarity, and created more problems than it could possibly have been worth.

To reiterate, the program ran fine when only the base game was loaded. Only when I installed the DLC disk content did the game fail to run, as it stands up to today. Can you provide any add'l advice?
