[OMPS] Oblivion Mod Playing Stories

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 12:03 am

So the guards were chasing some guy today, he was a mage-type, and I thought cool, might get some potions out of it, so I set off in pursuit.
I sort of forgot just how strong I'd become, my first spell (30ft frost damage) killed an entire street. Thanks to kuertee's crime has witnesses (except it doesn't I accidentally murdered them all) I actually got off scot free. Resurrected anybody from Oblivion.esm (thanks refscope) and was on my merry way.

(3 weak restore health potions and a restore magicka potion, if you're wondering)

Bandages? I want bandages! Which mod have you bandages? Also, was that story slightly exaggerated, or was that exactly how it was in game? Either way, I really wish I had Duke's mods now... :(

Anyway, enough hijacking for me, I've a story of my own to tell.

Mods used:
WAC (I can't provide the link for this one, seeing as how you need to join a forum to get it. Just type in: "Waalx Realswords Workshop" without the quotes in Google and you should find it), Knights of the Nine.

So after tiring of listening to the prophet ramble on for a couple of hours about how I should be the one to save the world, I exited Anvil and looked at my new map to find the closest wayshrine. The map pointed to Mara's, so I decided that would be where I would go. As I continued walking through Anvil's golden fields, I spotted Lord Drad's estate, and walking around, nibbling grass was a black shire horse. After making sure he wasn't owned by anyone, I took him and rode on...

While I was riding through the roads, I spotted a couple hyenas in the horizon. Their faces slowly turned to watch with beady eyes the large animal quickly galloping towards their midsts. After a few seconds of silent consideration, they decided my new horse and I would be their next meal. They all attacked at once, but I dismounted before they were upon me. They were tougher than wolves, and in numbers, I became gravely wounded, but I managed to slay them and take their pelts as a bloody prize. I had only seconds to tend to my wounds before another unit of the animals attacked, though I dispatched these without much trouble.

Riding on towards the wayshrine, I passed a herd of Zebra, causally nibbling grass. I stopped to watch them for a time, before they suddenly dispersed. I looked up to try to find the cause of the racket and was face to face with a sabre-tooth tiger, as big and half as my large shire horse. I quickly turned around, and ran for the hills! The tifer was fast though, faster than I had expected. It easily matched my horse's speed, pound for pound. It quickly pounced, time after time, striking contact with my horse's rump. Slowly but surely, my horse would fall soon, and then I would be next..

Through my fear, I was completely off the trail towards Mara's wayshrine, and had seen a plethora of other animals. A herd of blue wildebeests saw me, and all but the bull ran for their lives. The bull had other plans in mind, he would chase me to the ends of Oblivion for my intrusion. So imagine, I was chased by a tiger, and a wildebeest! Riding for my life, I was, not knowing where I was going. After minutes of riding to what seemed like hours to me, I spotted something... I couldn't believe it; it was a wayshrine!

I quickly dismounted and ran for the shrine, but I spotted the White lion that was prowling next to me. I knew I would be dead within seconds, as the other two hunters chased in. Before they managed to lay a finger on me, however, the white lioness let out a menacing growl and charged them both. Fang and claw kissed hide, as the lioness was desperately outmatched by the two bigger hunters. I took out my bow, and aimed for the lioness before I realized something: she was helping me, not trying to have me for dinner! I quickly switched my aim towards the nearly dead tiger and shot. Whether the arrow did much damage or not, I don't know, but what I do know is that both my assaultants were dead within a minute.

Unfortunately, my savior was severely wounded. I healed her as much as I could before praying to Mara and thanking her for sending this ardent defender to save me, before I thanked the lioness and left her a piece of Venison to eat. I rode off into the setting sun, my pack full of pelts and meat, but never forgetting the kindness that animal gave me.

Wow, your story gave me a warm feeling inside, and it got me all excited about WAC :)

My character pickpocketed a key from one of the female guards in the Council Chambers. Right after she chirps happily "You've got some nimble fingers. What have you been getting into?".

Relevant Mod: Thieves Arsenal and Let be Darkness

Leyawiin recomendation quest for the Mages Guild lead me to Fort Blueblood, after the amulet. Being the thief she is, my character has a non-violent approach (almost non-violent, the blackjack must hurt). Doing Fort Blueblood this way was a treat, thanks to Thieves Arsenal toys. First, with about 6 thugs around the entrance, I had to sneak at night and use a gas arrow.. took care of 5 of them, the last one I had to resource to the blackjack, Inside, thankfully, the fort was mostly darkness, so I could sneak my way in.. the only problem is that my character doesnt have night-eye, so the darkness worked both sides. All was well till I reached a large room with four torches on each side.. it was impossible to sneak through. The solution was water arrows.. I only had three (my character not only doesnt have night eye but is also broken), and was really fun to watch the thugs panic and go "Who goes there" as the torches started to fade : ) The searched my for a while and then "must have been the wind". Near the end of the Fort, I had to face a warlord.. luckilly he got distracted when he found one of his sleeping coleagues and I could use the blackjack again

Regarding the end of this quest, is a pity the game doesnt offer a non-violent (or at least non lethal) option.
Btw, not sure if its because of OOO,FCOM or Supreme Magicka, but
Spoiler
Kalthar
was *really* powerfull.. ok Im using also NGCD and Im at level 2, so Im not sure if I should have faced him now : )

This is a Day One Adventure!

By the time I made it to the Market District (after barely surviving the tutorial!) [nGCD, Progress and TRAP], my Argonian archer/thief was 50% exhausted and mostly encumbered [TFE], and it was almost closing time for the shops. I sold everything I could for a measly amount of gold [Enhanced Economy] and headed off to find a place to sleep. Stingy about money and worried about the hijacking, I decided to sleep the night away outdoors [Roughing It].

On the shores near the Waterfront, I went to sleep behind some rocks. In the pouring rain. I was awakened not two hours later by a ghost?/apparition? [Kragenir's Death Quest]. The really serendipitous thing is that the dialogue available for my character was all comments like, "Hurry up, I'm trying to sleep here!" I wrote down what he said in my [Kyoma's Journal] and tried to go back to sleep. No dice. There are enemies somewhere nearby, even though they have not spotted me. So, for a while, I sneak around the shoreline, looking for a safe place to sleep (still raining, exhaustion level still too high for adventuring). I finally am able to sleep among some tombstones.

I am awakened again after not 2 hours - this time by two necromancers (low level, thankfully). It was a challenge to avoid the summoned scamps and concentrate my (unpoisoned) arrows on the casters. When the battle is over, my exhaustion level is still high, hunger is rising, vision is blurred from fatigue loss. And, nearby enemies force me to sneak around longer, looking for a safe place to finish sleeping.

This time I sleep until morning. Exhaustion levels are low. An apple and cheese wedge from the [Cobl Dinner Plate] get me to almost well-fed. I swim south across the water, heading for the Water Works Engineer's House [Let The People Drink], thinking that clearing an Aqueduct might be a low enough level quest for me. No sooner do I get out of the water then...

...I get put down like a bedraggled dog by a succession of bandits and hedge wizards. The first two bandits I survived, plus their guard dog. But, without any more potions, I run from the magicians... and faint from lack of fatigue. With weakness to magic at 25% [Willful Resistance], I went down under a flurry of spells, in the very act of casting Sap Tongue to try to save myself. I watched my limp body slide down the hill and bob face-up in the water. [I forget what I'm using to extend the death camera timer]

One of the few threads that I heartily enjoy seeing necro'd :P A lot has happened since my post on page 2 (highly recommend btw <_< ). I am currently playing the second iteration of Zavier the Warlock, and have traveled quite a bit since then. This is less of a story then a hilarious moment, and I was fortunate enough to have my video recorder turned on.

I was doing the Daedric Shrine quest where you have to kill half a village or something like that (forget the name). I get them a little riled up, then upon the suggestion of my friend (we're trading off playing), I use my powers to leap on top of the nearest house and watch the chaos unfold. Since I wasn't keeping tabs on anyone, all but 3 of the villagers are killed, thus failing the quest. I go around to check the bodies for anything interesting before I reload, when a previously unseen fourth npc phases out of his house and comes running at me.

He runs right past, to the edge of the main fight where one of the poor jerks had been plastered against a wall, with the blood decal still showing. This guy walks up, draws his sword, then while still looking at the body, proclaims "Someone's been murdered!!" My friend and I were in tears for like 5 minutes, lol. I don't recall offhand which of my archived CDs contains the video, but I know I have it recorded somewhere.

I'm finally getting around to doing a clean install for UFCOM after like a 6-month break from Oblivion. Playing as a Warlock w/ casually sadistic indifference to most life (totally modeled after Richard of LFG fame), I should have some new stories soon. Assuming there's no more bumpage, I'll recant another old one.
